View Full Version : 1969 OER Kick panels
Camarofan1969 Mar 5th, 08, 10:00 AM Has anybody used them? I bought a set from NPD that were not OER and sent them right back. They were really bad. I'm hoping OER are better. I want to replace mine because they have factory speaker holes in them and I do not have a radio in my car. Thanks!
zdld17 Mar 5th, 08, 06:50 PM How about these, http://www.firewheelclassics.com/store/search_results.asp?SearchText=kick+panel&imageField.x=16&imageField.y=8
Ask for Patty, she would know if they are OER
Camarofan1969 Mar 7th, 08, 09:09 AM The only reason I asked about the OER kick panels was I got a 20% off postcard in a mail this week from Classic industries. Since they own OER, I was going to order the panels from them. I was hoping someone could tell me if they were happy with OER panels before I ordered a set.
69TAPoser Mar 7th, 08, 09:54 AM I just installed a set and was happy with them:

I did have to trim the vent opening down quite a bit with a utility knife. This was no big deal, but the retainer ring on the vent opening was WAY larger than the stock one. Once I trimmed them down, I was able to pop them in.

X33D80 Mar 8th, 08, 06:03 AM I installed OER from Classic Industries purchased about 2 or 3 years ago and they went on without any trimming and look good. As a general rule they aren't real easy to install and make sure you use a lot of sealant behind them.
aaron9252 Mar 8th, 08, 10:01 AM what kind of sealant would you recommend? I will be installing some in a few weeks.
69TAPoser Mar 8th, 08, 11:06 AM I used 3M strip caulk:

....It is in thin strips, so I used many pieces that I wrapped around the outside of the vent opening on the kick panel. I built it up about 1/2" high and 1" wide. When I screwed down the panel, I could feel it crush the caulk, making a good seal.
