View Full Version : Radio Support together Mar 5th, 08, 03:29 PM On a 69 camaro is there anything that supports the radio ? or is it just the nuts on knobs where they go thru the dash ? Vintage 68 Mar 5th, 08, 03:54 PM There is a support bracket bolted between the side of the radio and the dash reinforcement on factory installations. 67CamaroRS/SS Mar 5th, 08, 04:29 PM John, is that on all 1st gens or only the 69? pdohrman Mar 5th, 08, 04:52 PM Should look like this.... together Mar 5th, 08, 04:55 PM Thanks Paul ,the picture helped, found mine still on the dash just turned to a funny angle. 67CamaroRS/SS Mar 5th, 08, 04:58 PM Is that bracket only for a 69 or did all 1st gens come with it? I have an aftermarket radio in mine, but the cd skips some because of the all metal dashes we have. I am going to try to get some foam in there somehow and a bracket for the back to help. Dale8346 Mar 5th, 08, 06:17 PM On all first generation. And you can still buy replacement part and bolt. Ricks or Classic Industries has. The bolt is a little harder to find. for a 67 the bolt is aluminum Color although it is steel, it may be Stainless, but not always easy to tell. It is the same bolt that is used on the Ground at A/C harness at Cowl. You need 2 for radio mount. Part AR-51 from Ricks for the support (67&68 are the same). The screws you can get from Classic Muscle (Part # 9420415). Good luck. Unreal Mar 6th, 08, 07:52 AM I'll bet you can use a grommet or maybe a rubber fastener similar to that used on the radiator to cushion the CD. ( I forget what it's called, but it's like a rubber Tee Nut, available at any ACE) I bought the radio bracket from Ricks, but it was expensive and not technically correct, so I returned it and made my own. Fred would be proud, I used a piece of GOLD CAD bar stock I had laying around. 67CamaroRS/SS Mar 6th, 08, 08:25 AM Dale, thanks for the part numbers. Unreal, the radiator seal is a good idea. I need something to dampen the normal potholes and such. It doesn't skip that bad, but any skipping is too much. Our all metal dashes can be a hinderance sometimes. |
