Are you taking the center section out or the housing and everything?

If you are taking the center section out. Jack up the car, put stands under it and make sure it is SOLID. Also take the rear wheels and drums off the axles. Put a pan under the center section and take the rear cover off, draining the rear end lube. There is a bolt in the dif. you need to take out. That will release the pin that is between the axles. Slide the pin out. Push the axles in to release the "C" clips on the splined ends of the axles. Once they are out the axles will slide out. Then you can take the bearing caps off the dif. and remove it.

It's been probably 30 years since I've pulled a 10 or 12 bolt apart so I may have missed something?:noway:

Sorry should have been clearer. The whole assembly including brakes is coming out. Brakes and brackets will be transfered to a custom 9inch

Some drop the rear shackles and some "snake" it out... I snake them out.

Jack up and install jack stands.
Un-bolt everything (wheels,u-joint,ect) disconnect e-brake cables, brake lines, jack the rear up high enough that drum will clear the springs, roll the jack to one side enough that drum is past the spring, turn caddy corner, roll jack till other drum is past spring, lower jack/rear to ground.
