I see these dolls at car shows, usually on a 50's car.
I don't get it, why do people put these dolls on or in thier cars?
And please, if you hava a Camaro, do not put one of these silly things on your car. It's embarrasing...

Old guys typically have old gals hanging out with them. Old gals love dolls and once the empty nest syndrome sets in they will often replace their grown up kids with dolls and pets. If carting around a doll to hang on the bumper is all it takes to get mama to the car show and she doesn't mind the old guy spending the SS check on car parts I think it's a small price to pay. I hear they make good pillows when the old gal isn't around and the old guy wants to take a nap at the car show... :D

I don't know why, but those dolls annoy me too! The first thing that comes to my mind when I see them at a show is kicking them for a field goal.

My dad has a really sweet 55 chev that he built. At the first show he took it to he said he was going to get one of those dolls. I told him i'd be the first one to back over it and do a brake-stand on it's head! He was just kidding cuz he knows i hate those things too.

You mean to tell me you would take the chance on wrecking your car to avoid a critter?!
Don't get me wrong... i love my two dogs and completely understand saving "suzie-neighbor-girls" pet cat (or whatever) but come on. If you saw a critter in the road that was suffering (smashed-half dead already) you wouldn't put it out of it's misery?
Get off yer soap box, we're all family oriented here.

:clonk:I've seen plenty of people over-react to an animal poking its head out of the woods. One guy i work with was so adament about avoiding animals he totalled his new truck to avoid a rabbit:clonk: He saw it run out and moved into the on-coming lane while another truck was trying to pass. It worked out like a police "pit" maneuver except with my co-workers truck getting slammed as he went around.

I don't carry a stuffed doll with me to the car shows. Why would I need to? I have the real thing that comes with all time. I know you guys are probably thinking what a PITA that must be but this little girl is a real "car guy" with opinions as well as the respect to not touch anything or question anyone's taste. It makes me feel like the most fortunate guy in the world (while it lasts - LOL).

The dolls are pretty bad, but the guys who bring every trophy they ever won, and put models of cars on the air cleaners are just weird....................A clean looking car is all that is ever needed, leave the "fluff" for the garage.

Well, at least I am not the only one who doesn't "get" the doll thing.
I heard they where called cry baby dolls, but have no idea when or why they became popular with a certain age group.
Some of the other car show stuff like matching models, I can see someone with a done car getting bored and resorting to knick knacks, but it's not for me.

Not only do I hate the dolls, but I hate the stuffed animals as well. And trophies. Here's what I like to go with a clean car - pics of the restoration or build, data sheet on a poster so I can learn something about cars, a friendly owner I can talk to. That's it.

With you on this one, esp the trophies. I always feel it's kind of a one man's upmanship and unecessary bragging. If ya gotta boast just provide a small booklet of pics of the build up or options. Now if you got a trophy bride...that's another thing! :)

You guys are right. All that stuff needs to go. Dolls, stuffed animals, nick nacks etc., etc. I'm now gonna stash my trophies and the like and never show them with my car again. The car should speak for itself!! I imagine most of that doll stuff is some guy's other half's idea. I even thought about parking on one of those crying dolls at shows, but I figure that would be in too poor taste and is just as bad a displaying one anyway. Other stuff that bugs me: over the top displays with audio/video, the 50's drive in sholck with tray and curb hop mannequin on roller skates. Whatever floats yer boat, but I don't get it. Oh, yea while I'm at it. NO PT Cruisers never, ever any car show anywhere!

At the Goodguys show last year, we had my Nova. Well it's flat black and white striping. My girlfreind went out and bought a huge stuffed panda. She showed it to me when we got there. Surprise! She said it was cute and for the back seat. I told her no, but shw insisted. Well, that night whike we slept, i had to get up to use the restroom. She stayed asleep. I grabbed the offending Panda, took it into the restroom with me, and cut it's head off. When sh woke up, Surprise! She finally realized that when I said no to the stuffed animal in the car, that I meant no. Thus started the great panda debate of 07.

How this go from Doll's to Animal's ,It is or was a fad and it's fadeing away slowly ,I want to kick a field goal too, but what the hey if it make someone happy ,I am not going to pop there bubble and as far as missing an animal ,I would do my best without putting us or her(the Camaro) in harmsway...Happy Motoring
