I like Craigslist.com. You can search individual cities. Good luck!

Like Craigslist, but not as heavily trafficked --- go to your city and select "Classic Cars" (http://modesto.kijiji.com/f-Cars-vehicles-Classic-cars-W0QQCatIdZ100123)

Another Site (http://www.classiccars.com/Classifieds/SearchResults.aspx)

There is a bunch of sites I would go to when I was searching for a car. Heres a list of them, just put them into Google and the site should come up:

TeamCamaro Forum Classifieds
Collectorcartraderonline
Craigslist
Hemmings
Cars On Line
Classiccars.com
Camaro and Firebirds Classifieds
The Camaro Trader
Chevy Trader
OldCarTrader
Hotrod hotline

I found mine on Craigslist. Ebay and ClassicCarTrader seemed to me to have too many scammers on it. I wanted a local car I could go see and check out.

Long Distance money transactions aren't for me.

anywhere but e-bay!

I've been appointed "official car buyer" by my sisters, for my nephews that are coming of driving age :). Although I bought my 69' from a site I'd never dealt with nor heard of prior, sight unseen, and did well.....I also prefer to buy locally when it comes to "ordinary" driver cars. But let me share this with you guys:

Craigslist AND Auto Trader are both heavily trafficked by scammers. Ads are flagged for removal all the time, and there are even "ads" that are simply warnings to others about certain sellers that are unscrupulous. And there are three major ethnic groups in the Atlanta area that do nothing more than flip cars, and they know little to nothing about an individual car their turning. In other words, no different than Ebay or probably anywhere else. Buying a used car from anywhere is a crap shoot at best. Still, I'm currently still looking for a car for one nephew right now, and CL and AT are my choice for convenience. You simply have to be savvy enough to either "see" a scam in the ad itself, or "know it" when you call about the car. And then of course, there's always finding out in person if you missed something in the first two steps.

It may sound simplistic, but to me, buying a used car successfully is probably more about people skills than it is "car knowledge" skills.

You prob live in the US of A, but if willing to come across the border, there's a few on sale right now. We've got a Can. site called, "Kijiji" and if you punch in "classic cars" you will find quite a few on the block. For example in the Kichener region, which is in southern Ontario, there are about a doz or so Camaros for sale, some of them first gen...for example, a 67 vert, 350. There was yet another, 3rd gen, with 17km on it going for around $13K, I think? But had all the bells and whistles on it. However, you will also find quite a few guys wanting to buy one like yourself.

This is the best time of the year to buy, as some of the sellers will be hungry, but as we edge closer to spring, the prices will go up.

Also on this site there are a few Can. pro classic sales companies who come across the first gens.

Hope this opens the door to oppportunity to you, or any other of the crew who may want to expand their horizons in looking for that Cam.

Good hunting.
