I like how they said it was " a direct approach in design that will be in style for years. "
Boy they sure did that , it has to be one of the most successful designs GM ever created. 40 years later they are still turning heads.
and then of course I'm a little bias

You gotta love the white people trying to dance at the beginning of the vid! I also like the line "Camaro is the car of the SPACE AGE."

You have no clue! That was youthful dancing of that time. I bet the dancers were right off the set of American Bandstand!

Humm..Dances like the Jerk, Pony, Swim were what they are doing. How can anyone say that the crotch grabbin and dry humpin they do today is dancing. BTW...the dance on the video was popular to all races not just whites.

Why does everything today have to be or include race. Stating" You gotta love the white people trying to dance at the beginning of the vid!" could have been said as " You gotta love the people trying to dance at the beginning of the vid!"

I really love the video, true I could have omitted the word 'white' but MAN they looked stiff, no hip action whatsoever... by the way Dennis I am indeed old enough to remember those dances... not that I could have done them. I was 8 in 1967...
I have very clear memories of riding the bus to/from school, must have been '68 - '70, and my friends and I would watch out the bus window and try to identify all the muscle cars, like "there's a gto," "there's a Mach 1," "There's a z/28." Thinking about it now, it must have been quite the muscle car show out the bus window...those were the days!

You and me both Terry , I was 9 in 1967 and as a kid growing up in Chicago I was fortunate enough to tag along with my big brother who was 10 years older than me. He bought a new 1967 Firebird 400, posi , duals, the works. We would cruise all the popular musclecar hang outs. I can still remember the Chevelles, GTOs, Vettes, Mustangs, Hemi Chargers, when they were new. He would take me to car shows, car lots etc.
Why he would want his little brother along is beyond me but I'm glad he did.
I caught the bug early.

I also remember some of the car commercials, not just Camaros...seemed like they played the M____tang ads all the time.

My uncle had a mid '60s vette big block 4 speed, red of course, & one Sunday morning my dad persuaded my uncle to take my dad and me ON MY DAD'S LAP on a ride down the country road, no seat belts, we went over 130mph and then drove back home, my dad and uncle made me swear not to tell the ladies. At the time I didn't know why they were laughing so hard but of course now I do. My dad was crying he was laughing so hard, and this was out of character for him. This impressed me so much that I was hooked before 10 years old-- anything that fast that the ladies didn't like HAD to be fun!

Anyway all kinds of memories come back watching that camaro ad video!

My point was they are not "trying to dance", that's exactly how the dances were intended to be, hense the reference to American Bandstand...

"Space Age" was talked about a lot at that time, and used in product design and sales talk. The US was doing the Gemini flights in preparation to go to the moon which happened only two years later in 1969. Disneyland had a space "ride" and several motels in the area had a space theme, even the shuttle busses.
