camaroman7d Nov 26th, 08, 01:45 PM I really like that Nova ^ I'm building a blown engine for my 70 Nova right now. Mine was green from the factory and now sports faded to dust factory paint. I was debating on painting it green (I don't really like green). That car looks fine green, I'll keep my options open.
PRO 48 Fleetline Nov 26th, 08, 03:25 PM Oh my that nova is off the chains sweeeeeeeeet! And i love Green ecs that factory looking green.
I just finally had to make the decision on my 48's color because im painting the block body color and, when i see that green just really a sexy color that is really classey and feels antique looking. i choose the Green Tea met. off the new Honda CRV's sorta has that older feel to it yet still has the met. that really jums in the light.
That is one sweet *** nova :hurray:

That looks like the factory green that was on the camaro, nova, chevelle in 69. Actually my prostreet camaro was that color from the factory.

pro70z28 Nov 27th, 08, 01:59 PM 1969ProStreetCamaro. I've got a little time to kill, so here's the project I was talking about on the powder coating thread. I made a mold last spring and a month or so ago finally got around to laying up a part. I just have it taped in place so far. It will help finish off the area I had to cut out of the fiberglass dash for the intercooler. With the economy being the way it is, I'll probably limit myself to fiberglass & sheet metal work this winter, which is fine because there is allot of fiberglass & sheet metal to be done.

tilley88 Dec 1st, 08, 04:28 PM New here, first post. Turned on to this site by a fellow member on another site, RTJ (thanks for the tip). Just bought my first pro street project after years in the dirt track racing scene. '72 split bumper Camaro-already bought a bunch of goodies like Fatman drop spindles and tubular a-frames(uppers and lowers), QA1 coilovers for the front, aluminum cell, new dash pad, 6" cowl induction bolt-on hood, American Autowire complete wiring harness, aluminum dash panel insert, and all kinds of small parts. There's a ton of things I wanna do to this ride to make it mine, and I'm sure I'll be picken minds and askin for pics if that's ok with ya'll. I've always been a big fan of Camaros and Trans Ams, just took a little detour (17 years) to do the roundy-round thing. I've owned a '70 TA, '74 SD TA, '79 TA, '69 HO Firebird, and countless dirt track Camaros over the years, so gettin around and under 'em is no problem. I've got a couple small blocks sitting around, but the powerplant is the last thing I'm gonna concern myself with-may end up going big block or LS. Anyway, glad I was told about this site and lookin forward to posting.....how do I post pics?

tilley88 Dec 1st, 08, 06:27 PM Thanks for the thread tip, now I gotta take more pics to get to 10....I am leaning torwards Hugger orange w/ white sport stripes, but paint is a long ways off as you can see. I'm considering using polished aluminum treadplate for trim and accent pieces, so orange w/ silver stripes OR blue w/ silver stripes may be an option, too.
tilley88 Dec 1st, 08, 06:38 PM Dave, your car is killer! I love that stance. I tried to find a '69 locally but no luck, so I settled on the '72. Pro street cars are rare around here. The majority of the shows here are mostly old rods, trucks, and restored muscle cars, with a few rice burners thrown in for good measure. I did'nt see one '69 Camaro at any car show this year! Guess I'll have to travel some once I get mine done.

This looks like a good goal this thing is bad kinda looks like mine but newer, shaved door handles,no markers or markings....
tilley88 Dec 1st, 08, 07:07 PM Yeah, I plan on filling in the side markers and shaving the door handles IF I can find poppers strong enuff for the heavy gen2 doors. Thought about going the suicide route to make entry past the cage easier, but I would have to beef up the rear post alot. Still undecided about opening up the rear wheelwells. I understand that's more of a drag thing, but you never know......

Looks like a great project.
As far as the wheel openings, I have 33x22.5x15's on mine with stock wheel openings. Pretty tight fit getting them on & off but plenty of clearance once they are on.

Thanks! Yes I did have a c6 vette then sold it for a viper. I don't really miss the vette. Pretty common and the quality was terrible. Always in the shop for warranty work. The Viper I miss a lot except for the payments! Really had the raw, old school feel of a muscle car without traction control nannies, etc. but also handled and stopped well. Just couldn't really enjoy it because of the cost though. The Camaro is really the best bang for the buck out of the 3. A vette, viper and 69 camaro have been my lifelong dream cars so I'm thankful to have been in all of them. I'd like to keep the camaro forever though. Here are some pics of the vette and viper though...I LOVE red cars.

camaroman7d Mar 15th, 10, 10:41 PM Steve,
That is a very nice looking car. I love silver but, can never pull the trigger on actually painting one of my own silver. Great job on the car. You should start your own thread of your car and post some details, It's going to get lost in this thread there's already 25 pages.
Pro-Street69Camaro468 Mar 16th, 10, 07:52 AM That is VERY VERY nice.Didn't realize it was complete or are you still working on the interior.Like Royce said start up a new thread of your own and add a photobucket of it.
Have you posted in Sparky69 BBC thread if not he would love to see it over there as well.
cluxford Mar 16th, 10, 03:39 PM Steve, very nice, what's it actually running ? Just an awesome look, have you had it down the track ?
69blownprostreet Mar 17th, 10, 04:19 AM Thanks, I haven't had it down the track. No tracks close enough to me. I will start my oun thread shortly. I am still working on the interior, hopefully going to finish painting the dash today so I can start getting it back together. I had a friend of mine that does interiors do the seats, door panels and back panels. Standard black interior but I had the seats done deluxe with the comfortweave. The motor is a 461, 6-71, turbo 400 with a Ford 9" 350 gear. Haven't done anything to the car in a year and a half because I've been working on a garage that I rent with 2 other guys. One of the guys has a bad back and the other has a bad heart so I had to do all the work myself. The place was a mess but it's nice now. You can see some pics of it in my profile, I'm going to add more very soon. I did just get a photobucket but i'm still trying to figure how to do all this stuff. Not very good with the computer. The pics of the car outside are over 2 years old, the motor and interior are new. I will take more pics of the interior as it comes together.

1971BB427 Mar 26th, 10, 11:42 PM I'm not really sure what category my '71 Camaro falls into? Bought it in 1973 as a SS396 and pulled the engine to replace it with a 427 punched .040" over, with a number of other internal changes. Raced it at a couple local tracks from 1973 to the late 1980's, and then retired it to the garage to gather dust for about 10 yrs.
Around 1999-2000 I began bringing her back to life by pulling the engine and rebuilding it top to bottom. Drove it that way for another 10 years, then last year it got a minor fender bender which began a complete rebuild of the body, interior, and suspension.
It's now a daily driver(when the weather is nice!) and I'm enjoying putting lots of miles on it again. Some of these pics are before paint:

camaroman7d Oct 1st, 10, 09:03 AM Milan, What kind of times does it run? How do you like running e-85 with the blower?
CamaroBeau Oct 1st, 10, 09:40 AM I like the red one color... :)
Milan Oct 1st, 10, 10:05 PM Hey Royce, Im still dialing in the combo. The blower is under driven. I am knocking on hi 9s. with a terrible 1.6xx 60'. I have 8s in my sights when I overdrive the blower. I am loving E85. This car is like a cruise missle!!! Before I blew out the head gaskets with the old motor is was running 12:1 with boost and no detonation. The only thing keeping me from converting ALL the rodz to E-85 is availability....
Milan
camaroman7d Oct 1st, 10, 11:47 PM Milan, Very nice. post some more info on your combination if you don't mind. Not enough roots blowers that really run. I wish E85 was more easily available in my area I would really like to give it a shot.
Milan Oct 2nd, 10, 09:13 AM The engine is a .030 over 454 converted to 4 bolt mains and o-ringed (block only), home ported 049 heads with stock valves & copper head gaskets. The 4.25 stroker kit is from Ohio Crank with diamond 2618 alloy pistons. 8-71 Weiand, Two Holley 850 DP converted to E-85 by me. TCI4500 converter through a stock TH400 with Trans-Go shift kit, into a ladder bar 9" with 4.11 gears and Hoosier 31-18.5 slicks. The frt. eng is 'glass.
I am pretty proud of the fact that (With the exception of the machine work on the block) everything was built and assembled by me. I have made my share of blunders along the way but the exhilaration at the end of every pass is well worth it!
camaroman7d Oct 2nd, 10, 08:20 PM Excellent! Great work and thanks for sharing.
I just saw a Firebird at the track today running an 8-71 on E85, with a Pontiac engine. Keep an eye out for the Byron Dragway Wheelstand footage in the magazines and online, he is entering the contest tomorrow.

PRO1CAMARO Dec 20th, 10, 11:47 AM Looks fantastic! Mine is a '68 too. I'd like to know how you got that tall of a tire in the wheel opening and still made it look stock. I put a 29 x 15.5 MT one under mine and have just a little bit left front an back.
68ps383 Dec 20th, 10, 01:23 PM the rear tires are 31.x18.5 Hoosier QTP's the wheel openings are stock, I just rolled the lip towards the bottom. and yes they are a tight fit. before I had it painted, I ran it at the track & hard to believe but they didn't hit the quarter panels. so I left them as they are.
I myself like the way it looks with out having too much room front or back.
thanks again for the nice comments

camaroman7d Nov 1st, 11, 09:28 AM There were a few questions about beadloack earlier in this thread here is some info from Champion Beadlocks http://www.cwibeadlock.com/index.htm
"Are Champion Beadlocks DOT approved?
The DOT does not have a specific ruling for beadlock wheels--whether they are Champions or any other brand. Testing has determined for us that our beadlocks are safe for street use, and thus, we do sell beadlocks for light vehicles that will go on the road."
I am debating on havng a set installed on a set of wheels.

Pro-Street69Camaro468 Feb 1st, 12, 11:10 PM I'm not sure if I put any of mine in here or not. It's not a Pro Street car but it wouldn't take much to make it one. Since these pictures were taken, the rocker panel molding (spears) were added, door lock cylinders, vinyl top molding and the wheel well moldings.
The car was dubbed by a coworker as the Evil Pumpkin.......

bruce69camaro Feb 2nd, 12, 03:58 AM No, it has 32" x 14" Goodyear slicks on the rear, you just can't see them right because of the angle I took the picture at.
My wife keeps wanting me to put it back on the street but I really don't want to.
Add trust me, everything you here about the roads here in PA is true, they are not to worthy........
Pro-Street69Camaro468 Feb 2nd, 12, 11:10 AM Is there any local cruze's close to where you live. You could tag it just for them thats about the only time my car gets to see the light of day.Did you check out my car it took me around three years to complete. How far are you from Baltimore Md. are you we have a nice cruze night at a local mall that gets around 500 cars some week ends.....
bruce69camaro Feb 2nd, 12, 12:02 PM It takes me about an hour and a half to get to Inner Harbor. We got some local shows all around me, so if I need to trailer it there, that's not a big deal.
But then again, I had one of our local cops stop in to look at it and he said anytime I want to take her our for a ride, I'm to call him.......
Boy wouldn't that look good in the paper, two local cops in high pursuit chase, one in cruiser and one in fleeing car :noway:
I can't view images from photobucket or anysite like that here at work, so I haven't seen your car yet. I'll have to make some time at home and check it out.
Do you ever go down to the OC cruise on the boardwalk?
