The main things I've heard about them are that they are pretty much junk.

If you search the Chevelle site, consensus is that they're cheap chinese counterfeit knockoffs. You own some of the best heads made, don't second guess yourself.

The guy who built my 383 stroker used them on my motor it dynoed at 509 hp and 498 tq (these were suppose to be protopline but i ended up with procomps) after researching them they are edelbrock vic jr knock offs assembled in australia. The biggest prob i have is some of the spark plug seats are tapered and some are flat

Seems that most of the newer heads are coming out with a 5/8's type gasket seal plug. Not a problem , my AFR's came this way.

They may have a paper trail that says Australia, but they're Chinese knock-offs. There's a world of difference between Pro Toplines (bought out by RHS, a division of Comp Cams) and ProComps.

Beechfront, sorry to hear about your bait & switch. Hope they work for you and you don't have any trouble with 'em. We have a local plumbing company that's famous for that - consider yourself lucky that your experience was with a pair of small block cylinder heads instead of a $10K heating/coolng system.

Good luck, you know that between this and the Chevelle site, there are plenty willing to help with any questions you may have.
I'm going to be doing some dyno testing on a 406 I'm building with some of the newly redesigned Bowtie Vortec 225cc runner heads. They sure look promising, I'm hoping to build a tire roaster for my '81 Corvette.
