This was Pinewood derby weekend, and I was on the commitee. 1-6 yesterday, 11-3 today. Set everything up, wieghed and checked in cars, Served as "runner" during the race. I got to collect the cars at the bottom of the track in the correct order for the next heat and bring them back up to the starter.

Brian's car this year was "SpongeBob Squarepants." He looked cool, but came in 4th out of 5 in his den.

In between, I did get a little done. Yesterday, I attacked the interior. Got all the wiring straightened out and dressed up, dash & console back together, front seats in, steering wheel on, wheel lugs torqued.

This morning, I actually took her for a ride around the block!

I've done a lil more tuning on the EFI, and ran the valves (with the motor running) tonight. Did not make a mess at all, not one drop of oil spilled out of or over the heads. She's sounding pretty good. Still got a lot of tuning to do.

Also have an annoying leak at the #7 tube.

The Pinewood Derby is always a good time. I got 'volunteered' to be in charge one year when my son was in scouts. It turned out to be a really good time. We had a setup where everyone got to race several times and then we added up the scores for 1st, 2nd third, etc. so no one got eliminated. It's hard to believe how competitive some of the kids, and parents, are these days. I don't remember people getting psycho like that when I was doing it as a kid. How did SpongeBob place in the looks catagory?

Good to hear your car is on the road again.

Jim after all that work on the Camaro..its time to enjoy :) The derby thing was great to do and to me it didn't matter what place, just that the car was made together.

My first car award was for winning 2 heats in soap box derby on a hill in Omaha in the 60's. Chev provided the kits for building the cars up. It was a blast. My pinewood derby car totalled out on first run down the board, seems the back axle was crooked, sent it sailing :D
