I was just wondering. I might be able to do an X-pipe if I take out the mufflers and put them behind the axle.
I don't think it reeally does anything, but I wasent real sure.......does it help or does it take away?
What about the sound?
Thanks for any input.

Yes, location of mufflers does make a difference.
Typically the rule of thumb is to have them as far back as possible - notice most new cars have the muffler in the very back (with a resonator in between). The theory (for most cases) is the exhaust exiting the muffler may be more turbulent, so it would be more efficient to have turbulent flow exiting the system through less piping (piping produces a loss by itself).
Sound is a different story, can't help you there. Personally, I think it sounds better with the mufflers in the rear.

in the car noise may be bad w/ under frt seat, under back seat little less in car noise, short big loud runs good, long small quiet robs power, H stuff sometimes sounds better and runs better, mufflers on the shop floor is most fun

A loose muffler may fall off. Once you lose that muffler, the car may perform better.

LOL, I think the general definitions of "loose" and "lose" have somehow been switched in the past few years. It always amazes me how many folks use these two words in the wrong context.
