The car I just recently purchased is running the 29x12.50x15 MT Sportsmans in the rears. These measure 29" tall but have a real slopping sidewall with only 10.6" tread width and 13" sidewalls. I just had Jegs mount up a 315/60/15 ET Street and I only have 1/4" between the wheel well openings now. That is just to close for me. This is a backhalf street car but I don't think the rear is narrowed much at all. Its ford 9". The rims are 15x10's with 6.5" backspacing.

I can return the tire and exchange for a different size. My problem is I have to go down to 28" tall ET Street. How will this really affect by performance.

The car has 4:10 gears currently with a 29" tire. If these actually measure 28.6" tall and the new Et Streets measure 27.9" tall. Should I be concerned about less then 3/4" difference?

Thanks, Erik

I think the new (shorter) tires will increase RPM's by a couple hundred at best, no real issues there.

Have you looked at the 295/65/15 MT DR ?

12.4 x 29.88 <-315's approx. measurments

11.61 x 30.24 <-295's approx. measurments

The 295's are taller then the ones that wouldn't fit. I ended up putting the 325/50's on the rims today. They only measure 28" tall but have the same width.

Now my dilemma comes from the front rims. I just bought 15x4 rims and I am trying to find a radial tire around 26-27" that will fit on a 4" rim. I am trying to keep the pro street look somewhat. If I can't find a tire for that rim, I will have to wait until the 15 x6 rims come in stcok.

These are all going on Billet Specialties street Lites I just bought at Jegs. All they had were the 4" fronts so I grabbed them. I really do not want to run bias ply's.

OK, I thought the tires were tight on the width not the height ? My bad I guess.

look at 165s for the front. 165/80r. They are on ebay under race tires

If you run at the track.... BE SURE YOUR TIRES ARE RATED TO THE SPEED YOU RUN !

VW tires are rated to 80mph... use extream caution.
