camcojb Mar 14th, 08, 08:32 PM price gouging is in the eye of the beholder. ;) I think they spend a ton of time and money in many cases developing new products, and they don't do it for free. I think you would be surprised to find out how much they've spent to make a particular die to stamp a part, hydroform a frame instead of the usual cut and weld together, etc. They have to sell a lot of most new products just to break even. Of course, some of their stuff isn't like this, but as a whole they invest a lot of time and money doing this. Not to mention Kyle and Stacy are about as nice to meet as anyone you'll find. They do great work for sure.........

OK Sure just riddle me this. Why does a DSE roll bar cost $650.00. .....Must be the R&D of the advanced Maunfactiring technique. Dont get me wrong I agree they make great stuff.
Just cant wait till the law of SUPPLY and demand take hold.... As demostrated by the recent contol arm thread.
ProdigyCustoms Mar 14th, 08, 09:27 PM I think that is JRs other car. You can do a lot of this stuff using exhaust tubing to fit your gauges, cut it into short pieces at the angle you want and drop the gauges in
As for the price gouging comnent................Yes their stuff is full price. But Yes there stuff is absolutly THE best quality it can be plan and simple. One thing I know for sure is i can bid a job with confi=dence using any of theor products knowing I WILL NOT have hidden issue so prevelent with other products. I know their stuff will fit, I know extensive R and D has gone into it, it WILL NOT show up rusty, the template and instructions are complete and easy to understand, and they have a tremndous amount of product in stock or will have it in stock very quickly, and all these things cost money justifying the prices.
prostreet69camaro Mar 14th, 08, 09:54 PM I installed the guages in my 69 dash probably 15 years ago. I used the MSD cups and welded them in the dash. You can also use exhaust piping. I tilted them at an angle towards the driver seat so you could see them better. I have also install the MSD angle plastic cup behind the guages but with the 69 dash angled down it still made it hard to see them from the drivers seat. They were angled down towards the floor.

Mine isn't exactly the same. Mine is a fiberglass removable insert, and it was really just a first attempt one weekend to see if I liked it. t(heat I've left in for several years now.):clonk:

I second that I spent about $5000 with them and don't regret a penny of it. I just polished my wiper arms and put them on and the wiper motor from them is to cool...You only get what you pay for and its all in what you want....

My first thought was:
Why isn't the oil pressure gauge on the left? I like the most meaningful gauge to be closest to me.

I paid more than that to have one built for my Camaro, before they came out with theirs. Other than theirs, you're stuck with a drag race type, which is anything but close fitting to the car. The idea is to get it so it's not nearly so noticeable in the pro touring type cars. A drag car guy doesn't care if all the bars are visible, but many street touring guys do.
So once I needed one custom bent to stay close to the roof, side pillars, match the bar angle as close as possible to the 1/4 window slant, move the rear bars close to the sail panels, etc. it was a lot more than $650 in good old California.

Vegas69 Mar 15th, 08, 03:28 PM I have spent a butt load with them as well. You are paying for their reputation, quality, and 2nd to none support.
JOEVANNUS Mar 15th, 08, 03:48 PM Frank, that indeed is Dale Jrs. 67 camaro. The fab work on dash was done on the car before I started working down there. It has a ton of hours to get it fabed and bodyworked and painted. The dash cluster gauges and radio +equalizer old school were installed the way Jr. wanted them.I can see where people can look at DSE as high priced but as stated in other posts you are paying for quality pieces that fit right without any issues. If people saw the amount time DSE spent to make their parts I think everyone would understand why their parts cost as much as they do.Just my 2-cents Joe.
XLexusTech Mar 15th, 08, 05:27 PM Put Car 'c Car up against a car with equal power and 5K more in DSE parts.
How much better do you expect the DSE car to perform?
JOEVANNUS Mar 15th, 08, 05:38 PM Not looking to start a pissing match here, But I think it's safe to say that the blue test car with street tires still manages to run with most cars out there with a stock chevy crate engine in it.Joe
rojo Mar 15th, 08, 05:56 PM I saw the blue '69 DSE car at the Charlotte Speedway. It seemed to run pretty strong at the little demo track that was set up. They need to fix the dent in the fender LOL. The price of DSE parts is up to DSE IMO.

Your right

Yout right too
:beers:
JOEVANNUS Mar 15th, 08, 06:12 PM It's cool. rojo your right about that Lh fender and I took care of that last week before they left for costa mesa good-guys. The test car is sporting a new look on the frt. end . We said bye bye to the black grille+ hideaway bezels and painted them blue and car looks alot better IMO. take care Joe.
Joe Harrison Mar 16th, 08, 12:05 AM That dash looks great!! If they sold a bolt in or weld in one I bet they would sell like hotcakes. I wish something like this would come out and use the factory heater controls.
As for DSE pricing. You don't have issues with the prices if your not buying from them, if someone else comes up with a part and sells it cheaper that's cool also but to steal a design and clone it. Call it DSE like or style and sell it for 1/2 as much is ripping off DSE and the people buying the parts. Like fake Z's some people are going to call the knocked off parts real rip people off at resale or just lie about what's on the car at shows.
Build a better widget and they will come. Build the best widget and people will knock it off and sell it for pennys on the dollar make a few bucks and move on the next flavor of the month. It's all cool if your the guy saving big bucks on hopfully parts that are made as well as they look but just wait until one of these jokers rips you off or supplies nice looking junk. I bet the gloves come off then.
As Frank said customer service is everything and so are quality instructions. I am willing to pay more for both and support good companys making good parts that I use. The DSE selecta speed wiper motor is a great example of a part that is resonable in cost and direct bolt in with quality instructions and real people to talk with that speak engish when you need help.
