68 Vert. Sealed my kick panel vent tubes with plates (installing vin air system). In doing a final leak test, the plate seals were fine, then i noticed a small water amount draining (passenger side) along the front area of the plate (closest to seat) down the caulk seal. Further I can see it is coming from the seam above where the speaker area is and connects that open area with the cowl vent water drainage system. It just beads along the connection point and drains down to the floor pan. I know i need to fix this but cannot quite tell how it is getting to that area from the cowl point. Is there a typcial area of leak above the speaker area? I know this is vague and could be anything, just wanted to know if I am missing the obvious.. Pretty sure it is not the windshield glass area or the antenna. Tested several times and cowl intake creates the issue.:( Any help or suggestions appreciated, it is bringing the install to a grinding hault.....
Thanks

Followup - in looking at that seam that connects the speaker area along and above the vent tube openging to the dash, i noted that it was not tight to the wall like the driver side, i ran some seam sealer in this area. Is there a seam that would leak under this connection point? If not i think i will be screwed, area above the speaker area is very tight and not sure i could get at it to plug a leak, even if i could see it which i cannot.

Update- water still leaking. (total flood and just a small leak, none the less a leak) Is there a drain point if i attempt to re-route it torwards the fender in the speaker area of the kickpanel, i really do not see a way to seal it properly because i cannot get to the area of leak? Car never sees rain and i typically cover this cowl vent when i wash it due to leaking in the past.

I am really not sure what you are asking, but I have written answers to what may be your problem on other kick panel questions. THE KICK PANELS THEMSELVES DO LEAK UNLESS PROPERLY SEALED. Has nothing to do with correcting the rest of the car, not that it can not be something else. Look for those Threads. GM put lots of sealant on these kick panels because they knew they leaked.

Yes, sorry for the description of the problem. I am sealing the opening for the vent tubes and just cutting the tubes off the kickpanel. This link/post is dead on to my issue with nice pics of the issue area.

I found that my leak is not water into the cowl/vent area but the engine area that drains down onto and over the fender. I think it might be the top hinge area. Just for fun i stuffed a towel in the door hinge area and no leak, then took the towel out and poored a small amount of water into the engine compartment drain to the fender, bingo. Hopefully resealing my top door hinge will fix this problem.
Thanks.

You "solution" still made it sound like the kick panels are not sealed to me.

Sorry i am doing a poor job a describing this issue. The link and pic in post #5 does a much better job. It is the kick panel area, but just not the fresh air vent tube as that is sealed completely with a plate and caulk. It is leaking from the open area that houses the hinges. But still not sure it is hinge. Squirted some water in this area from the door area and did not get a drop inside until i squirted more at the fender seam. Did a flood test with a hose from the engine compartment drain over the fender for about 5 minutes and nothing... Ieeeee.. I hate leaks.
