I have a 68 RS SS and the parking lamps do not have any chrome bezels around them. If I look at pictures of other, some seem to have them and some don't. In the year one catalog, I do not see any listing for such bezels...anyone has an idea ? They seem to be quite "far" in the valance.

The 67 and 68 RS models used different parking lamp assemblies and different lower valence panels even though these panels look identical from the exterior. The 67 light had a chrome ring to was also used to hold the lamp assembly into the valence panel. A backing plate was slid in from behind the valence panel to bolt to the lamp assembly. 68 cars had a parking lamp assembly that mounted to a bracket that was part of the lower valence panel. These lamp assemblies were installed from inside the valence panels and yes are smaller due to the fact there is no chrome ring around them. You will see a lot of cars with incorrect valences and lamp assemblies. I have even seen factory photos of early 68s using the 67 pieces.

Your 68 is correct.

When I was redoing my '67SS/RS, the original lower valance was hosed.
I purposely went with a '68 as I prefer the non-chrome look.
