Does anybody have any opinions on the replacement 69 sheetmetal? I see core supports that are overseas then American made ones that are 3 times as much? How are the fits of the fenders and quarters? any pros or cons? I will not spend for nos it's way too much.

I'm using all overseas panels on my '68. The quarters had to be worked (mainly passenger side), the full trunk pan fit good, the tail panel fit good, the core support fit good and the trunk lid is decent, also the full rear filler panel was nice. The 1pc floor is on it's way to me, hopefully it doesn't give me any problems. I used Dynacorn and Goodmark parts.

I used Goodmark full quarters, tail pan, roof skin and door skins. Also used Dynacorn one piece floor and trunk pan. No fitting issues whatsoever. You have to realize that a lot of people curse the panels when they should be cursing the car for twisting so much over time. If you put NOS panels on a twisted car, you will be cursing them as well.

I couldn't agree more.......sometimes you get lucky and the replacement sheet metal will fit nice and sometimes a little "massaging" is required. But its not always the fault of the replacement sheet metal.

For my 69, I used Golden Legion Taiwan mfr'd quarters (Pick a marketing name, they are ALL from the same place.) The drivers side full quarter fit very well although I did look at 3 different panels before I found one that I thought looked good. It took only minimal massaging and mated to a NOS tail panel quite well. The right side was a little worse. It took a lot more finesse to get right. But overall I guess it was ok. It looked good, and had nice crisp lines.
The "Made in USA, Show quality" outer wheelhouses I bought from Rick's fit great. Unfortunately, they are now up to about $179.00. (they were $108.00 before Eckler's took over.) The imported wheelhouses are cheaper but plain suck IMO, although many guys here have had success with them.
The imported core support looks good. I haven't installed mine yet, but compared side by side to the rusted out original I removed, it matches up quite nicely. Many have had good luck with the repo core supports right out of the box, but I have read that you might have to tweak some of the mounting holes to get it exactly right. Triple the price for an American made core support....Naa, the Taiwanese part is fine!
The price of NOS parts is really getting out of control. Much more than I care to spend restoring a plain jane driver. HOWEVER, If you are building a Premium "Numbers Matching Car", a couple extra grand for NOS metal isn't all that much in the big picture.
Good luck in your resto......Jb
