I have a 68 I'm an in the process restoring. I have a doner 68 with a nice roof and drip rails. I have removed the roof skin and drip rails on the the car I am working on.
I guess my question is what locations do you romove the whole roof with supports minus the front pillers.
Both cars have good supports I would hate to just hack one off.
or
Should I just buy the needed sheet metal.

I replaced my roof. It was pretty easy after I got over the intimidation. It did need tweaking a bit. If you go that route make sure your windshield moulding fits the contour before welding it on. If your going to take a donor roof, the welds in the drip rail channels are a pain. I used 3M large panel adhesive to glue my new roof skin on in the drip rail areas. I welded everything else. There think are a few pics in my sig below. Good luck !

The roof was pretty easy for my first time. I would also suggest the new roof panel instead of a donor piece.

If you had a donor roof already off and trimed thats the way to go. If you haven't ever taken one off then you will most likley destroy the gutter area. I've put donors on. I put a NOS roof on my 67 L78. I'm installing a repop on a 67Z right now and I very pleased with the fit. It just needs a little tweaking. Also they don't have the step back by the sail. I don't know anything about the repop drip rails.

Thanks everyone for their thoughts. I think I'll just buy the metal and leave the other car with a cap. :-)

A new roof skin is the way to go. It was the only piece that fit on my car without modifications.
