View Full Version : Installing stickers correctly porschedave Feb 3rd, 04, 02:33 AM Ive recently painted my z28 and have a complete set of stickers.Does anyone know the correct location for the door and trunk lid stickers. maybe some photos? MARTINSR Feb 3rd, 04, 04:27 AM I had to laugh when I read your question. I remembered a time when my neighbor and I were both restoring 68 Camaros. I was installing my jack instructions sticker on the underside of the deck lid looking for the proper place and eyeballing it for perfect placment. My buddy said, "I want it just like it was done at the factory". He grabbed his sticker and ran at the car stickiing it on the fly as he ran, wrinkles and all. :D He said "THAT is how it was done at the factory". LMAO, thats got to be true, every trunk sticker on those years looked wrinkled. :D JohnZ Feb 3rd, 04, 11:02 AM Here are the deck lid stickers on my untouched original 02D car: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2002-2/13522/DeckStickers.JPG graemlins/beers.gif DjD Feb 3rd, 04, 11:53 AM Hi John, What's the date on the limited slip sticker at the bottom? It looks like it's slipped over the years from where it was orig placed. Do you think that's the case? porschedave Feb 3rd, 04, 03:08 PM OK Nice thats 2 down. What about the GM and the tire inflation ones on the doors? Mark C Feb 3rd, 04, 03:38 PM No GM door stickers on a 69. They were 67 only. 69's only have a tire inflation sticker, and if it was made after September of 69 they have a Federal Compliance sticker with the cars VIN on it. Steve's68RS Feb 4th, 04, 06:28 AM just to verfiy, our 68- 12467 N RS 03A date has the same sticker set up except our jacking instructions are a lighter shade of blue and our limited slip red letter sticker didn't stay and was in the same place. running at it with a hand slap is the best way. anyone have photos of 68RS conv. stickers or emblems inside the door - mine are all gone. tire information and/or the little blue GM decal that is reflective, where do they go? thanks, Steve W Feb 4th, 04, 02:58 PM Steve, Does your car have the 1/4 panel vent, with the black plastic grill, in the door jamb? Just curious. We had a little discussion about this some time ago. Some 68s had it, some didn't. porschedave Feb 5th, 04, 04:55 PM So on my 69 Z28,no blue GM but a tire inflation on the left door? Unreal Feb 6th, 04, 05:02 AM Correct, assuming it was built before September. If late car, see Mark's comments, above about the VIN sticker. Speaking of that sticker, I have an October 69 car, but the VIN sticker was long gone. Anyone have a pic of an original one, that would help me determine the correct font for the VIN on the repop sticker I have. Also, mine is kind of a light blue, almost a Carolina Blue. Is this correct? I've seen pics of some on ebay (not recently) that appeared to be a darker blue than mine. Do you think that's the case? Date is 7-22-58; glue was slopped on the lid with a brush, then the paper was slapped on the glued area. Glue application wasn't "precise" :D Steve's68RS Feb 8th, 04, 04:59 PM Steve W send me an email to SBrownback@msn.com and I"ll jpg you 2 photos of what I have. IN the email remind me that you want the jacking instructions shot and the inside door shot - seb Steve's68RS Feb 9th, 04, 07:05 PM Steve W- yes my car, 1st week of March 68 does have the black vent holes in the door jam. It is a conv. RS small block if that matters to you at all. What I don't have are the littel blue/green GM excellence reflective squares in the door itself. maybe weren't there, maybe are gone. Steve's68RS Feb 11th, 04, 03:44 PM yes, my jack sticker is more of a carolina blue. the posi sticker in red letters is indeed dated 54 or 50 something. Unreal Feb 12th, 04, 03:20 AM Steve, I was talking about the VIN sticker on door of late cars. I dug my repop sticker out, and it's not "Carolina Blue" it's more of a bluish turquois. porschedave Feb 13th, 04, 04:20 PM I think Ill put the blue GM stickers on the door as I think they look good? Some of you say the 69 didnt have them originally.Im almost finished on the outside so Im working my way inside the car now!Great Fun!! http://us.f1f.yahoofs.com/bc/3f90a4f1_29e3/bc/My+Documents/IMG06.jpg?BCuIZLABv8p4J66a Steve's68RS Feb 15th, 04, 04:36 PM My 03A 68 had and has no vin sticker on the door, what are you referrring to? Vin in the dash and on the cowl tag and I hvae the pop, but on the door, don't have anything there> I'm sad that our car, 2nd owner since '73 is getting new paint, engine rebuild and paint and new carpet and some new decals and emblems and stickers and no longer will be an unmolested untouched original small block RS conv. but it is time for it. 124678N393162 we are having release issues in restoring this car, we know it needs it, but it is still a sad day. . . . I have seen the 7-22-58 date and thought that was correct but it has started some discussion. Any info on why so old? Not worth reseting the type? Maybe it's not a date? Any other stickers or parts with old dates that you know of? Thanks again... mr396 Sep 20th, 05, 02:00 PM moved |
