: mid-Mo get together
mbrekke Mar 26th, 08, 01:09 PM Anyone up for a meet since the weather is getting warmer? Some evening during the week or on a weekend? I'll buy the first round of cold ones. I'll show y'all my bitchen sunroof too. ;)
We met up in Ashland last year.
Mark
mbrekke Mar 27th, 08, 01:30 PM No one interested in a Saturday afternoon get together for a cool one?
Mark
pdq67 Mar 27th, 08, 04:28 PM Mark,
SURE!!
Tell me when and we will make arrangements and the first two rounds are on me!!
Get back.
It's a shame the '63 Diner doesn't sell beer. Perfect nostalgia place by me otherwise..
pdq67
molaker Mar 27th, 08, 06:07 PM Mark I'am in, if I don't have to work!!! I'll be out of town for a week going to Florida to get some sun! Hey by the way it was nice meeting you and your wife a couple of weeks ago at the restaurant. Oh and my first cruise-in is Thursday April 10th maybe you guys can come down sometime its the second Thursday of every month till oct. Jerry
rs1968ss Mar 28th, 08, 06:04 AM A large group of us are heading to Bethany, MO on 3/29. We found a steakhouse named "Camaros" there. We need to organize something in the Columbia area as well. Any interesting (car type) restaraunts around there?
travis Mar 28th, 08, 07:43 AM I'd love to join you guys again this year, but it most likely isn't going to happen. I miss MO.
mbrekke Mar 28th, 08, 07:55 AM Paul
We'll get something going here. The 63 diner would be a good place, but you're right. No brews there, except for coffee and ice tea. Great pie though.
Jerry
Good meeting you the other day too. I think your waitress got a bit paranoid when I asked to speak to you. :D It would be kind of hard to make the drive down on a Thursday evening after work. Got anything going on weekends? By the way, great restaurant guys. If you're down at the lake and looking for a place to eat, go see Jerry at Mexicali Blues.
Randy
The diner Paul mentioned is about the only car type restaurant around here. Columbia is more of a spandex biking shorts type town than a muscle car town unfortunately. There is a new place, Cadillac Ranch, that isn't too bad but it's more of a cowboy theme. You guys got the park reserved again for Camarofest?
Travis
We'll have Paul run down there in his corn popper and pick you up.
Mark
travis Mar 28th, 08, 08:16 AM You think Pauls up for a 20 hour round trip ;)
mbrekke Mar 28th, 08, 09:46 AM You think Pauls up for a 20 hour round trip ;)
Knowing Paul, I wouldn't rule it out. :D
Mark
pdq67 Mar 28th, 08, 04:34 PM Done it before!!
Try 31 hours hard work and ta hell w/ it, I ain't spending another night above the dance floor!! I'm going home! For another 7 hours on the road!!

O.k. guys, what's a good date for everyone?
Mark
pdq67 Mar 31st, 08, 04:23 PM Mark,
I will go the gas for your car if you wanna drive! And please bring your lovely wife along TOO!! If she can make it??
Otherwise, we can take my 2003 Accent c-popper that will get like 38 to 40 mpg!
Let me know when you wanna leave?
pdq67
mbrekke Apr 1st, 08, 07:04 AM Paul
We'll work something out for Camarofest. I plan on taking my car. Hell, it's the only one there with a sunroof. I have to go! ;) Maybe Jim or Dave will be passing through town again too.
So what's a good weekend to get together here? I'm open most weekends, if one of the kid's cars doesn't break down that is...
Mark
pdq67 Apr 1st, 08, 03:56 PM Hey JimM,
Where you at??
Steaks will be on me if you wanna show up? Mark too and hopefully his wife and the big Okie if he wants me ta, He, He!!, arrange for his arrival? I will put the 'Bird-dog and my old CB in and we will go down the road.
pdq67
travis Apr 3rd, 08, 07:43 AM Have you all decided on a weekend yet? Let me know...I might be able to work something out...
mbrekke Apr 3rd, 08, 09:12 AM Haven't planned anything yet Travis. Maybe we could meet down at the lake and pay Jerry a visit at the restaurant. That should cut about an hour off your trip. :D
What do you think guys? Road trip to the lake on a Saturday sound good?

You got it.

Hope you're feeling better there Sky Pilot. ;) If nothing else, Paul and me will take you up on that beer. A drive down to the lake on a sunny afternoon sounds like just what we need about now.
O.k guys, how about April 19th or 26th? May 3rd maybe?
Mark
pdq67 Apr 8th, 08, 06:29 PM Mark,
It's gotta be sunny!!
This darn rain/small hail crap is killing me!! Heard it last night about 4 AM or so again..
Gotta get to SPRING onna these weekends..
Let me know and it's a go..
pdq67
molaker Apr 8th, 08, 07:18 PM Hey, guys the Magic Dragon car show is the week of may 2-3 maybe we can do something that week-end they usually have 300-400 cars. It will be be on the strip at bagnell dam.
mbrekke Apr 9th, 08, 07:18 AM I hear ya Paul. I've got a big patch of bare dirt where I filled in a small pond that I've leveled and seeded, twice. And here we go again. They're saying a couple more inches of rain tonight and tomorrow. Should wash my grass seed away and make some more nice ruts.
Jerry, that sounds like a good idea. What's on their schedule for Saturday the 3rd?
Mark
molaker Apr 9th, 08, 06:39 PM Sat. the 3rd is the big day of the car show, sat night they have a cruise the strip night at the dam. Also you won't want to be at the restaurant sat. night we are having our cinco de mayo Party on the patio I would not advice you to park your car here because we will be packed and parking is bad with all the people. We did have a few show cars here last year and a lot stopped in sun afternoon on the way home.
mbrekke Apr 10th, 08, 07:56 AM Hmmm, I didn't think about the whole Cinco de Mayo thing. Guess that would be a busy time for you. Crazy Americans will use anybody's holiday as long as it means drinking. :D
Sunday, or a different weekend, may be better then. I was more interested in shooting the bull for a while than rubbing elbows with the masses. What do you think Paul? Anyone else?
Mark
molaker Apr 11th, 08, 09:34 AM 425 cars preregistered for the car show so far
pdq67 Apr 11th, 08, 03:24 PM Whatever you decide it will be OK w/ me mark.
Split gas or whatever, my corn-popper??
pdq67
mbrekke Apr 14th, 08, 07:46 AM Guess we can see how the weather works out that weekend Paul and go from there.
Jerry, are you working the restaurant all day Sat. the 3rd, or just the evening? What about Sun.?
Mark
molaker Apr 14th, 08, 04:34 PM Mark, I was thinking about going to the car show sat. day and working sat nite
mbrekke Apr 15th, 08, 07:12 AM Jerry
I'm not going to enter the show, so where's a good place to park/meet up on Sat. morning?
Anyone else want to meet in Columbia or Jeff City and cruise down to the lake together?
I'll stop by your house on the way Paul. I think I still know where it is. :D
Mark
pdq67 Apr 15th, 08, 04:05 PM Mark,
PM me the night before so I don't forget, ol' man I've become!
And I will be looking forward to going.
pdq67
pdq67 Apr 16th, 08, 04:27 PM Mark,
Check out today's Columbia Daily Trib b/c the '63 Diner is up for auction!!
pdq67
mbrekke Apr 17th, 08, 07:01 AM That's pretty crazy. Default on a 1.23 million loan? Sheeesh... Restaurants are closing like mad around here.
Got some bad news. Something came apart in my engine the other day. I'm thinking busted piston. Long sad *** story... Anyway, I'm going to pull the heads off again tonight and see what's going on. I'm sure it won't be good.
Mark
pdq67 Apr 17th, 08, 04:21 PM Dam guy!
Let me know if you need any of my tools and my help??
pdq67
mbrekke Apr 29th, 08, 11:18 AM We still on for Sat. guys? The weather forecast doesn't look too bad...so far.
Mark
68DaveV Apr 29th, 08, 12:21 PM I just now caught this thread. Let me know what the plan is. If the weather holds up this weekend I'd be up for a cruise.
mbrekke Apr 29th, 08, 01:04 PM Dave
I was going to pick up Paul and head down to the lake Sat. morning and meet Jerry (molaker) down at the show somewhere. My car is in pieces (long story), so we'll be in my Grand Prix or Paul's corn popper as he calls it. We can meet up with you somewhere or just meet you down there, either way.
How was your St. Patty's?

Mark,
Probably much like yours...just tried to make the wife happy. ;) Next year will be number 30 for us. How can I be that old?
pdq67 Apr 30th, 08, 04:03 PM Mark,
You working on your car?
Let me know.
pdq67
mbrekke May 1st, 08, 06:54 AM Paul
I took yesterday off to pull the engine out and ended up working on the mower and then mowing for 5 hours instead. The yard looks nice, but I still don't know what's wrong with my motor. I had to fix the aerator in the septic tank too. I do believe pulling the engine would have been much more enjoyable...
I picked up an engine hoist on sale at Harbor Freight for $130. Should have done that 30 years ago. Anyway, guess I'll pull the thing out Sunday and see what's going on.
What time you want to leave for the lake Saturday?
Mark
mbrekke May 1st, 08, 10:06 AM Hey Jerry, where are we meeting?
Mark
molaker May 1st, 08, 12:52 PM well, Quess what? I'll have to spend my time at the restaurant instead of the show I got behind and didn't get the patio ready for sat nite . If you guys come by I'll buy you a margarita! Jerry
mbrekke May 1st, 08, 02:36 PM If you guys come by I'll buy you a margarita! Jerry
How could anyone argue with that?
Mark
mbrekke May 2nd, 08, 09:47 AM Hey Paul, when did you want to head down to the lake? I figured we could spend a few hours at the show and then head over to Jerry's restaurant for a late lunch.
You up for the cruise Dave?
Mark
68DaveV May 3rd, 08, 04:02 AM Mark & Paul,
Looks like a nice day for a cruise. I'm going to plan on leaving St. Charles around 10 AM for the lake. I need to take the south route on I-44. That should put me down there between 1 and 2. Where/when can I meet up with you guys? Lunch at Jerry's? Where's his restaurant? PM me a cell number.
mbrekke May 3rd, 08, 05:18 AM Dave
Sent you a PM
Mark
68DaveV May 3rd, 08, 08:30 PM Paul, Mark & Jerry;

pdq67
PS., Dave again GOOD LUCK on the job change!!"
And Thanks Mark for the ride..
mbrekke May 5th, 08, 07:28 AM Had a great time guys! Huge show!
Good luck on the job Dave. I got the feeling you missed flying.
Thanks for the beverages Jerry. Hope your Cinco de Mayo was a success. The margarita machines hold up?
Paul and Dave, I pulled the bottom end out yesterday and didn't find any major damage. There was a bunch of small chewed up metal pieces and shiney flecks. Guess it ate the lower dipstick tube or something. The little pieces were steel and not aluminum because I could pick them up with a magnet.
I'll send you a PM Paul.
edit: Can't send you a PM Paul because you're out of personal message space.
Mark
molaker May 5th, 08, 08:40 AM Mark, Dave and Paul Thanks for stopping by.Mark only 2 of the 3 marg machines held up but we made out ok . It was nice to put a face to some of the people you meet on this web site maybe we can meet again and have some other people on this site show up, Maybe a all Camaro cruise to the lake?
