View Full Version : Bolt kits?
SS5449 Feb 9th, 05, 09:24 AM I've researched the archives, and have read what has been written before, but I would like to ask again. Who has good bolt kits? Ones that look good, and most important, long lasting. This car is a driver, not a numbers matching.
Thx guys,
Rut
JimM Feb 9th, 05, 10:22 AM I bought mine (front sheetmetal kit) from d & r (drclassic.com)
Big ole 10 pound baggie of fasteners. I haven't needed to open the baggie yet, but as far as I can see it's all there, in the correct finishes and washer types and such
MR454SS Feb 9th, 05, 01:08 PM I purchaced mine from Rick's and was a real good kit,all parts are bagged in individual bags and labeled,my car was only a roller with no doors or front clip, the guy that disassembled the car pitched everything,if you want to reuse what you have you could always buy a tumbler and the media material and rezinc them,I believe Eastwood have these supply's.
Unreal Feb 9th, 05, 02:26 PM I got mine from D&R, and it was a bag of bolts. I'd go with one that has them separated and labled.
JimM Feb 9th, 05, 02:34 PM ditto...labels woulda been nice
edd Gordon Feb 9th, 05, 02:35 PM Most of the bolts on my 68 were OK but I went ahead and got control arm -frame- and front end sheet metal bolts all new from Rick's and they are really nice for reproduction pieces, it saved alot of time searching for them at a bolt place.
MStennes Feb 9th, 05, 03:17 PM I got mine from Ricks for the above reasons LABELED it help now if they would just add pictures to go along with it. Now I'm buying a stainless set for my 69 with allen button head. Hope it has pictures.
star Feb 9th, 05, 05:50 PM A freind told me about AMK. I think they sell to mostly to dealers but will sell to the public. It seems their stuff is really top quality. I am having a hard time using their site however. It requires a java program and mine does not work right even after trying to relode it. I called and they gave me the page for the catalog. This is it. If you want the home page just delete the rest of the address after .com http://www.amkproducts.com/catalog_pdf.htm
GunnerV Feb 9th, 05, 06:09 PM Star,
Great link! I was thinking about going with the stainless steel set from Classic Industries, but I like how AMK shows you exactly what you get for your money.
MickyT Feb 9th, 05, 08:45 PM Check out the group purchase on Pro-Touring.com. $130.00 for stainless kit. Think thats what Im gonna do.
GunnerV Feb 10th, 05, 06:39 AM Man that looks like a great deal, I'm not sure how I feel about the allen head though.
Rocketrod Feb 12th, 05, 05:59 PM I just purchased the bolt mentioned by MickyT above. Should be here sometime next week.
