View Full Version : which way to go???
ams69 Mar 29th, 08, 02:24 PM i just picked up a 063 coded ,white int,ALL original x11 base 69 car. I have all original paper work, proteco plate etc.. even the TEMP TAG it left the lot with in 1969!!67k miles,350h tranny,A/C car. my ? is if i start changing the color etc. is that a mistake when speaking of value? I have never been a orignality type guy but would almost feel bad to change this one.the car is in good shape but just really is not me, but in order to make it more me i would want to freshen all int, paint body, paint engine, install small cam, aftermarket exhaust, new wheels etc.I know it is just a base plain car but will i affect it buy changing those items or should i just put it back stock?? I have never ever seen as much original documentation as i have with this car.:noway:
Fred Ficarra Mar 29th, 08, 02:58 PM Where are you and your pictures?! Tough problem! There at least a thousand guys here who would like to solve your quandary!
ams69 Mar 29th, 08, 04:27 PM i am in indiana. i will get pics.
BlackoutSteve Mar 29th, 08, 04:29 PM An original base car that is all original, matching and "correct" will all documentation, will probably have as much value than a big block SS mock-up.
I'd suggest to leave it as is and just do things that need doing.
If you want to modify one, buy one that's already been messed with.:)

i cant believe all the documentation,i have everything but the window sticker.I just found the delivery check sheet the mechanic signs off on before the customer takes delivery from the dealership.from what i can tell, the only thing that has ever been replaced on the car is the starter ,battery and tires according to all the maitnance records.they kept all records.the car needs new int, just from age to make it look new, it is not torn up,has a little rust above the rear wheel lips, nothing major, under the car is like showroom new!! and i need to pull the motor just to freshen the gaskets, repaint and replace all correct stickers.I have a 68 camaro i just redone last year,1000hp pump gas procharged motor but car looks stock except rims and tires LOL so i already have 1 modified but its for sale.I am also working on a 73 with a ls1 but it has a long way to go.I paid 16k for the all orig. 69......maybe a bit high but it is just cool car with all the papers and history. :beers:
BlackoutSteve Mar 29th, 08, 09:22 PM It sounds like a really nice survivor.
ams69 Apr 1st, 08, 09:38 AM well i think i have to change the color...i cant help it even though it may be a mistake if i ever go to sell the car

hey i just noticed you are from aust. I had a guy contact me about purchasing my 68 and bringing it your way.do you guys have alot of inspections and so on that has to be met before it is considered a street car?He was trying to explain it all to me.:beers:
BlackoutSteve Apr 1st, 08, 11:58 AM What color is this car originally?
We have probably no more rules than you guys.
One thing to tell him is that anything before 1/1/1969 is pre-ADR. (Pre Australian Design Rules) so there are many things the car doesn't need to comply with.
ams69 Apr 1st, 08, 12:06 PM the car is originally and still 063 champagne in color. i have everything except the window sticker that came with the car.even the temp paper tag the car drove off the lot with.67k miles,ALL STOCK/ORIGINAL. if you look at my 68 in the for sale adds you will see i never leave anything alone LOL.if i could find some good pics of the color i may keep it but i have searched over and over
