I am ready to tackle positioning the rear axle lines. SS lines from Right Stuff on a Moser assembly that is not under the car. Disc brakes from 1979 El Dorado with the left caliper in front of the axle and the rear caliper behind the axle. I know it was designed for it but does the suspension ever compress enough for the axle to contact the frame mounted axle bumper? If so where does hit on the axle? I am worried about the left flex line being between the axle tube and the axle bumper. Right flex line appears to be ok no matter where the hard lines are mounted. Hard lines do not have all the right bends so some re-working will be required. Should I mount the hard lines on top of the axle, on the rear side or towards the front? Can the hard line bracket stand be mounted between the U-bolts?

Photo below shows how the flex lines come out and over the springs. Blue tape is on the left side and no tape shot is the right side.

As always, thanks for your help. Without it FUBAR is likely.

Danny, I used Right Stuff lines as well and I mounted them to the backside of the rear axle tube along the same line as the original hard line clip (you can see it just to the left of the bracket I welded on)

Danny, I just looked at my setup my hardlines are slightly angled back from the top of the tube (8.5 ten bolt)similar to your left side pic. Also my brackets are positioned just inside of the inner u-bolt. Are you using 021 cast calipers? My calipers are the 451 casting and both my e-brake cables pull from the bottom. Are your bleeders both oriented at the top of the caliper? Also it doesnt look like the lines would interfere with the bump stop if angled back on the axle tube.

The only cast number I see is S17B. Bleeders are at the top but at a downward angle. The left side pic is looking rearward and the hardline is slightly forward. Is your left caliper mounted forward like mine and does the flex line come out over the leaf spring? If the axle bumper hits the top of the axle tube I guess I will have to position the hard lines to keep the flex line out of the impact area.

the axle bumper absolutely may occasionally hit the top of the axle, that's why it is there. Keep those brakelines well clear.

Jim,

Does it hit on top of the axle tube between the U-bolts?

Yes.
Trying to remember, yes between the u-bolts, but kind of forward of center, I think.
