Has anyone had any experience with this radiator ?? Supposed to be a direct bolt in.

ditto. Actually I've bought 2 (don't ask). Both fit great. The first one had a kind of cheesy blue plastic neck, the second one has an alluminum nack.

I know Jims core is around 20". Whats the core size on the 396? The dimensions are posted wrong on the site...http://www.northernfactory.com/HP/detail.asp?PART=205133 It says this fan will fit http://www.northernfactory.com/HP/detail.asp?part=Z40087 It has a core of 23 5/8"

I purchased one for $189.00 for my 69 Camaro. I was not the direct replacement but I made it work. That's the price that my local dealer sells them for. I have model number 209606 if memory serves me correctly.
