I'm shopping hard for a car right now. I decided my new daily driver is gonna be a 67 or 69 camaro. Im in the middle of a 67 vert resto atm.

I dont care about matching numbers drivetrain, i dont care about a highly optioned or RS SS original car. I wouldnt want to drive one of these in the elements. My plan it to Retrotek efi, overdrive trans this car, install some wicked tunes, and drive the snot outa it. I want a rock solid car, with nice body and paint.

But I dont wanna get stung. Im seeing a ton of cars, i looked at over 500 cars for sale in the last 2 days on the web. I know how to check bodies for bondo with the fridge magent, i know how to check hidden vins. Im an old auto mechanic from back in the day, and i love tinkering with these cars now.

Can i get some ideas of what i should be spending for these cars, rather then posting 20 different "for sale" adds and bothering you guys for price ranges. I feel i should be able to find what im looking for in the low to middle $20 range. maybe up to high 20's for a very nice car.

On 69's what X codes are the best to buy when looking at resale later. What about clones, how do they rate. IMHO a nice car is a nice car, and im sure certain factory options are worth more. In a perfect world id get a cortez silver with factory ac. Stick or auto I dont care for now, i have a new BTO 200r4 im gonna install. I prefer a small block for fuel milage.

Lastly whats the best way to get cars inspected from outa state, independaent inspectors? Wish i had freinds all over the country lol
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thats one of the beautys of this site...ya kinda do. I know there are many folks on here who are willing to look at cars for others...myself included.
Twenty something should get you a real decent car. Its a question of how much time you want to spend looking to find the right deal.

Just my point of view.
I went to a Super Chevy Show a few years back. There was a plain old 69 Camaro for sale. The guy was asking a little more than I wanted to spend, but I got his number. He said he had offers for 2K more than I was willing to go, but every 4-5 days I would call and talk to him, offering to come with cash if I liked it. Finally he said come on out. I drove about 1-1/2 hours to his place, liked the car and bought it. I've always loved the lines of the 69. I don't care if it's a Z28, RS/SS or a generic Camaro. I don't plan to change the exterior or interior, but it had a 200R4 trans and front disc brakes. Since then as I can afford it I've added Hotchkiss front & rear springs, KYB shocks, Hotchkiss front swaybar, Competition Engineering subframe connectors and lots of other parts. The value has gone up, and from a driving/apperance standpoint it's a very cool ride. Decide why you want a car like this, then follow your dream. I hate body work do I bought a pretty car. Do what suits your personality.
