Was he curved neck(COPO 427) radiator used as standard or an option with Heavy Duty Radiator on a 1969 Camaro L78 or L78/L89? Also the small bumper guards on a rear bumper, what was the correct mounting bolt/screw(head type) that went in to lower rear valence? Thanks in advance...

Bob, can't help on the bolts, but for the radiator, READ THIS (http://www.camaros.org/coolingsystems.shtml).

Seeing there was no HD rad option in any BB car, no.
But some L78's got the 4 core. It was hit or miss. Probably due to shortages....

Mine was a 4 core. The neck is straight. It's hanging on a wall of my mothers house. Would you like a picture of the bumper bolts. They're special??????

All a/c BB Camaros had the curved neck radiator for the upper hose to clear the compressor.

Yes, but he's talking about L78, L78/L89, not available with A/C. All 69 COPOs and 69 b/b with A/C (L35, L34) had curved neck.

There was only one 4 core in 69 and it was curved necked.

Possibly the neck was damage and replaced. The 4 core was designed for a/c BB cars and used in 427 copo's and some l78's. What is the date code on your radiator and application code on your tag? That will tell the story...

Your Signature states L88 not L78. Well what is the radiator coded as ZD or UY? Whats the story....

My originals have a small "E" with three radial lines - two horizontal, one vertical.

Fred,
Yup, I knew that when I posted.
The four core with a straight neck was the 68 rad, sold for years as a service part.

Steve asked the right questions: what's the tag says (still there?) and what's the date code?

It's hanging on my mother’s garage wall. The original core was toast when I trial fit a flex fan in 73. When the primitive Cadillac coolant recovery bottle I hung next to the shroud swung when trying to impress a beautiful passenger, the core was destroyed. I had it replaced. But the tanks are still there.
And this reminds me of a story; The one about when the core leaked 30 miles from nowhere in western Wyoming and the 300 pound dog jumped on my chest when I turned on the irrigation system on his ranch to cool my radiator. Had it fixed in Casper. 1973. Key west next stop. I later married my passenger.
But the core was always 4 and the neck straight and original.

Fred,
When you're at your mom's, can you note the tank codes? They are embossed into the tanks themselves: http://www.camaros.org/coolingsystems.shtml#usage

Thanks!

Maybe he is looking at a 3 core thinking it is a 4 core ?
