I have a new Dash Instrument Assembly Carrier bought from Classic Industries and am ready to apply paint. This is the plastic dash insert that the gauges are mounted into. I am ready to tackle painting the instrument carrier without painting the chrome face accent that surrounds the gauges. It only comes in black, and I will be applying bright blue paint.
Any tips on how to mask the chrome, or how to make this come out right?
Thanks

I painted the instrument housing for my '68 and bought new chrome trims rings that go around each opening. Most of the resto places now sell them. Looks 100% brand new with the new chrome and new paint. I'd go that route. The rings are about twenty bucks, easy to apply and WELL worth the money.

Thanks, DS. Actually, the chrome is already on the piece and looks permanent to me. Do you mean that you can remove and replace the chrome?

I went to a Automotive paint supply store and purchased some 1/8" pin stripping tape..worked like a charm

I misread your first post. If the chrome is good, I would mask it off with pin striping tape as suggested. You can't take it off as far as I know...I wouldn't try it anyway. My carrier was original and the chrome was shot so I used the new chrome rings.
