Allright,

I'm pulling the experts out of the woodwork on this one!!!

I found this 1962 mercury Meteore S-33. The ad reads:

1963 Mercury Meteor S-33, 2 door hardtop. 260 V/8, auto, PS. Red w/ white top. Red bucket seat interior. Runs great Showing 38K. Needs work. Would be great car to restore, "VERY RARE" only made for two years. All stock, has had bodywork done to it, looks good from 200 feet(bizarre). Needs chrome put back on, (taken off for bodywork, lost interest). Floors & trunk pretty solid. Can e-mail pics on request. Asking $2,750 or B/O. No tire kickers please. Thanks for looking.

What's this sucker worth? Iv'e personally never heard of this car before!!!

I guess it has fresh paint, rock solid body, and runs great. Just got off the phone with the guy and he said he purchased the car from a 92 year old lady that had it since the early 70's.

Any guesses??

I'd be concrened about getting body parts for it and it looks like it needs some.

I would google search the model name. I think they made it for more than 2 years. Looks like the Mercury twin to the Ford Fairlaine. I remember in the 60's they downsized the Fairlaine to the size pictured. I'm sure Mercury had the same model, but don't remember the name. The car sure looks like the Fairlaine only the Mercury version.

Maybe disregard my last post, after a second look at the pictures, it's not a downsized version of the Fairlaine. Looks to me like it's the full sized Mercury twin to the 1963 Ford Galaxie. That body style was only made for a couple of years, I don't ever remember seeing the Mercury version of the '63 Ford Galaxie.....maybe it is fairly rare.

I cant help with a value, id assume its not worth a whole lot finished since its a small block car, auto car. My rule of thumb would be if it was never raced in sanctioned events back in its day, it "probably" wont bring alot. The cars that demand the most seem to be big block 4 speed cars, with lots of options, or rare options. WHen looking at a mercury it was a luxury version of a ford, therefore may of the options it has are standard for the level of vehicle it was. But im no pro at this so thats my opinion.

If you grab this, make sure the chrome and ss he has are in usuable shape, odd ball cars like this have lil or no repoduced aftermarkets parts to be found. So restoreing this can be a nightmare.

I worked around cars like this in a ford/mercury dealership. Looks good to me, if the driver side looks as good and I needed another toy, I would go for it. $2500 would be tops. Put a proxy on it. You can still get parts for these fomoco cars. Probably more obs parts available than you think, being a ford. If memory serves me correct, there was also and S-22 version.
