I'm posting this question for my dad. He has a 68 Camaro as well, and in it is a DZ302 he bought rebuilt like 15 years ago. It hasn't been fired since then, but was all clean, supposedly just a hone with the original pistons. Now he figures that engine is too valuable to use in his hotrodded 68 Camaro, and would be a shame to hurt it in anyway, especially since a 327 will be just as fun and adequate on the street.

Anyways, it's got generic heads, nothing special. The entire bottom end is complete and supposed to be all the original parts, which we will verify once we have it out. What we do have, are casting #'s. On the right front: V0205DZ, right rear: A288, left rear: 3956618.

So what's something like this worth?

Check for a partial VIN # above the oil filter, in the vertical rough cast area. Can be difficult to read. Never know, may be able to reunite the engine with the car

The short block is probably worth 3-5k... most complete DZ's with a numbers carb and all are arouund 8k so back out hte cost of the heads intake and carb and get you down to those numbers, now if someone has the VIN match they may be willing to shell out a more...
