I was attempting to fit my goodmark tailpan the other night, it doesn't fit very well at all.
The top portion that has the drain channel is not bent over far enough. If I line up the top with the quarters, the bottom of the panel is pulled out by about 8 inches. Is this a common problem on repos? It can't be easily bent over farther either, because the tail light braces are welded to it. My plan is too cut the spot welds that attach the braces to the drain channel, bend the top portion over more, and then re-weld the braces once the panel is welded in place. Anyone have any other ideas, or suggestions. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come with my new quarter and fender.

thanks

I found the same exact problem with my goodmark tailpan, haven't figured out what to do.

A couple of years ago I purchased a repo tail panel...it was of such poor quality I immediately located a NOS one and bought it. I still have the repo hanging on my wall...the braces on the bottom of it were welded on backwards, but other than that it looked as though it would fit fine...it is just really thin and cheap looking.

Yes. The holes that accept the mounting studs are sometimes off center. A rat tailed file or a larger drill bit will work. Also, the lip around the light enclosure will sometimes need to be tapped down.

I have the same problem with where the drain channel meets up to the passenger side quarter panel. The rest of the panel fit fine. I still don't know how to correct this? Any input on how this can be fixed?
Thanks

I had the same problems as everyone has described. I unloaded the repro and located a good used one and put that on. Also the repro was missing the contour just below the too large weather strip channel. You think that for what these cars are worth now and the money that people are willing to spend for parts that someone would start producing parts that fit.
