I just purchased a '69 Pro Street. I owned a '65 Malibu SS for 10 years and decided to "muscle up." The car is not an RS, SS or Z-28, and I am going to have it painted. It has stripes, but I thought "regular" Camaro's didn't have stripes. This is going to be steet, but I like the stripes. What are the "politics" of having stripes on a regular car versus original striped car? Sorry so long winded.

If you do some searching, you will find "most" of the stripes were options. From my reading of this site over the years, the majority opinion seems to be "do as you wish" with your car. Since it is not a special car such as a rare Z28, SS, COPO, etc., have fun with it. Many more people frown on altering a genuine, numbers matching special car. One thing that does seem to catch the attention is if the stripes are improperly done or poorly done. One Camaro has been shown with white stripes so wide, it had a thin blue line down the center of the hood. Bottom line, it's your car. Do as you wish and have fun with it.......just be tasteful.
