I just picked up my perfect project car. A real 1968 RS/SS. Right now it is bare metal, zero rust and complete. It has aftermarket replacement front fenders but Im not sure if they are right or not. I have heard that the ones I have are for the non hideaway lights, is there a way to tell for sure? I held my light up to one side, and it seemed to bolt up to the fender just fine, but honestly the inner bolts didnt seem to line up to the front firewall (or whatever its called) Seem to be like a 1/2 off. Any tips or pics appreciated. Im new to camaros so I am flying blind here...

Hi Bob, going through a restoration myself you can tell quite easily if the tabs to bolt on the light pods are recessed back about 2" or a little more to accomodate the headlight door to swing shut and remain flush with the grill. If not and the tabs are back about a 1/2" or so you can bend them back or cut them off and buy adaptors to mount the hideaway light pods to. The are not expensive and are called:
Headlight Housing Adapter Bracket's and sell for $29.99/pair from Classic Industries.

There write-up info on them is as follows:
RS Fender Headlamp Housing Adapter Tab Bracket:

A great solution to any RS headlight conversion. These stamped curved plates will insert on any standard Camaro fender skirt and allow the headlights to sit further behind the grill area and allows the installation of the Rally Sport headlamp housing capsules. This is an excellent, cost effective way of changing from a standard front end to a Rally Sport front end without the high cost of changing front fenders.

Note: installation may require minor welding. Sold in pairs.

Thanks foreverlookin.

Looks like I got the right fenders then, cool! I tracked down the brackets you describe and they are already on there. Now I just have to figure out why the headlight bucket assemblies dont line up perfectly with the radiator support. Nothing a little surgery cant fix ;) graemlins/clonk.gif
