Im wondering where do they get welded in the rear? Im in the process of changing my leaf springs and rear end on my 69 convertible and wondering if I should just do this now while everythings apart, or is it something i can do later relativley easy.

Thanks
John

I'm in the process of doing mine now and can say that it will probably be much easier while the leafs are out. I have the inside of the back of the connector welded on both sides and didn't have to remove anything. It was awkward welding, but worked. The front pockets for the leafs look like they need to be moved in order to weld the outside of the rear of the connector. JimM took some nice pictures of the welds when he did his. If you do a search you should find it. He welded it up in many places, I'm going to just bolt the fronts for now.

Thanks for the reply Kevin, I did a search and couldnt find the pics from JimM"s instal. If all I have to do is drop the front pockets then im not gonna worry about putting them on rite now.
Ive been trying to prioritize on what to get now and what I can get later, just so I can get it on the road this summer. This has been a 5 year project that ive never driven. :(

But im determined to drive it by july.

Thanks again
John

Looks nice Frank! Did you weld them on the outside also? I'm wondering if I can get by with just welding the inside and the back like your picture shows.

You can get buy with just plug welding them on the inside, just get good penetration. If the factory did them they would plug weld them like the other frame welds on the car.

With that said, thaere is certainly no harm in bead welding the perimeter also, just be sure to let the weld cool so you do not melt the bushing out of the front spring eye.
