View Full Version : 67 RS Convertible on Ebay
97 CAIVIAROSS Apr 7th, 08, 07:55 PM Just wanted your opinions on this car. I actually was speaking with the owner before he listed it and Rich "johnnysalami" from the board went and looked at it for me. He said it is exceptionally clean and original underneath. May have had the right quarter replaced but said they did a fantastic job if it was. Leaning more toward that because it does not have the rear mounted antenna as decoded on trim tag. Also it was a mild restoration 1500 miles ago not completely restored. Car was taken apart and gone through by a reputable shop. Alot of things were painted like the hinges, suspension, etc. He said body panel fitment was excellent. He also said it looked like the original undercoating, and rear brake lines, fuel lines etc, all in good shape. The seller and I could just not agree on a price.
Would this car have been a column shift car? On the pic of the trim tag it reads W 2S 3SL

Thanks again to Rich for taking time out to help me find my dream car.
PowerWindows Apr 7th, 08, 10:52 PM This is just my personal opinion but:
Tower clamps on the wrong engine, wrong transmission, wrong water pump, wrong alternator, wrong color (I like Marina Blue better), wrong, wrong, wrong......
Clearly it's a "restified" car, not a restoration. Nice car though and I have no doubt it'll bring good $$$.
Yes it's an RS vert, but he makes it out like it's the second coming.

I will agree with you on the Marina Blue. Definitly the best color, of course I am biased :-D

camarodude67 Apr 8th, 08, 05:24 AM Hi or Good Morning. Car is Nice but No Way worth 47K. If that car was a RS/SS loaded with options and a 396 then maybe worth 45K or 40K..... That car is maybe worth 30K at the most. It is just a RS Ragtop....
Nice car though.... Clean.

thorpe67RS Apr 8th, 08, 12:44 PM While i agree that the car is not worth 47k by any means it is still a very nice looking car. And does look very clean.
It may not have the original engine or tranny, and have wrong clamps and alt. for that matter, but its still a nice car. I wouldnt classify it as "wrong, wrong, wrong"
Its a heck of a lot nicer than most of the cobbed up cars i see on ebay. But again, 47k..not even close.
97 CAIVIAROSS Apr 8th, 08, 02:46 PM That was my feeling, but seller disagreed. I am biased toward marina blue also. I also like red though.
PowerWindows Apr 9th, 08, 10:26 AM Did anybody notice that it has the 67 and earlier LH exhaust manifold with provisions for mounting the alternator on the correct side for a 67?
This is why I critique this car this way.
I guess it has to do with the "restored" billing. That term means different things to different people. To me it means "period correct" if not original. This would include paint color also.
This is just my opinion though and you know what they say about that.
I also noticed that the bid is over $30k. It is clean and he may get his reserve as it's a V8 vert after all.

Wow..i never even noticed that the alt was on the wrong side the first time i was browsing the pics. I agree with you that he talks the car up to be more than it really is.
