rssscamaro,

It all depends on what you are looking for. Pre X Code Camaro's are generally referred to as early Norwood built Camaro's. These were generally produced from the 4th week of August 1968 to the middle of December 1968, as 1969 Camaro's. The X Code did not start until mid Dec. 1968. If you are looking at a Los Angeles/ Van Nuys made Camaro it won't have an X code on it regardless of when it was built.

Today's prices can range from $3 grand for out and out junk that needs a full restoration in replacing everything up to $1 million dollars for a matching numbers all original ZL1 Camaro. Prices on the "non exotic's" have dropped this year due to the economy and housing market. You may find a really nice non matching number decent driver SBC or even BBC car today for $25k - $30k.....Please note at that price it will NOT be mint and most likely NOT a show car. But you'll be proud to own it and others will compliment you on that car.

If the 3rd digit of the VIN plate on the dash board has a 3 instead of a 4 in it, example 123379N5----- Then the car started life as a 6 cylinder and overall they are not worth as much as a similar car which now has a V8 in it.

Bottom Line: As mentioned above, it depends if you want a better body with mechanical issues, vice-versa, an electrical wiring nightmare, etc. Try www.camaros.org for some good info or www.chevy-camaro.com

As far as prices check out www.ebay.com, www.craigslist.org (they are cheaper on craigslist), www.racingjunk.com, www.collectorcartrader.com, www.autotrader.com, www.auto-rv.com (some great deals can be had on auto-rv) and of course the one and only Team Camaro site right here! There are many other sites in you can search on as well.

Good Luck!!

If you are fussy, be prepared to pay. You want perfection, you will have to pay for it. Everyone with a nice clean 69 Camaro knows what it is worth.
