I noticed that the rear window on my 68 needs a lot of "manual" assistance to help when rolling up, is the regulator shot, do I need to replace?

Probably the rollers.Remove the interior panel and look inside. It should be easy to figure out whats broken.

not only the rollers, but probably just the crud that builds up on the track over 35 years. I cleaned mine, painted it, and greased it real well with lighium grease. It works fine, now.

This is what gets crudded up along with the rollers. Clean them up good, repaint if you want, then reinstall and there are 4 adjuster screw bolts in the 2nd photo to make sure it goes up tight against the top of the rubber seal and also back in toward the seal as well. Its not all that hard to do, go for it.
