racin67cam Apr 9th, 08, 10:04 PM The car appears to have the original rear end, trans, carb, valve covers, air pump, breather, intake, and engine. It will need new quarters, hood, fenders, floors, trunk lid, and area around rear glass replaced because of rust. It has the tach in dash, console with gauges, 4 spd shifter looks original, am radio. Blue with white stripes.
buenymayor Apr 9th, 08, 10:11 PM See if you can post some pictures of it. That will help in determining value. Also get a picture of the trim tag as those are faked quite often anymore. Have you looked at the engine/transmission/rear end numbers to determine if it is actually numbers matching, or do they just look original?
racin67cam Apr 9th, 08, 10:28 PM I have not checked the numbers on the motor trans or rear end. The carb is the correct numbers. The motor was changed and the original is in the garage, have not looked at it yet, plan to go on Sat. and verify all numbers. I will get some pics and post. Thank You for your reply.
buenymayor Apr 9th, 08, 10:36 PM Good deal that the engine is out. That will make checking it's numbers easy. Get lots of casting numbers/date codes/stampings, and pictures as you can and post them. Someone can help you out as to value, then.
firstgenaddict Apr 10th, 08, 07:58 AM 20-30k for a numbers project...
racin67cam Apr 12th, 08, 10:16 PM I went today and checked out the Z-28, I was told that this car was repainted solid blue without the stripes and Z-28 emblems (can see emblem holes filled from backside)because the person that owned it was tied of everyone trying to buy it, or wanting to race. Engine was replaced (short block) some years ago, because of a hole in one of the pistons. Original block was picked up and saved (I Think) I can not find the vin on it, also the DZ stamp is not staight, not sure if this was common on these motors? I took pics, need to figure out how to post them.
Engine V0430 DZ, cast #3970010, Date D239, could not find vin # on engine.
Trans. P9D23A, 660 Case, vin. matches
Rear End BU 0429G2 with E under it.
Carb 4346 3959164 GE 2699
wheels are all YH.
exhaust manifolds on engine are LH 527, RH 826, with smog pump piping.
Intake # 3932472
Deep groove pulleys exept altenator.
It has tach 6000 red line, clock in center, gauges in console.
Cowl tag reads
ST 69 12437 NOR 326228 BDY
TR 715 71 71 PNT
05A X77
firstgenaddict Apr 12th, 08, 10:36 PM That is approx the change over from 618 blocks to 0010 blocks... interesting to see if the stamps and all...
firstgenaddict Apr 12th, 08, 10:36 PM your dates look real nice... would love to see some pics...
Unreal Apr 13th, 08, 06:16 AM When you say the engine stamp is not straight, what do you mean. If you mean the letters and numbers are not aligned, I'd be cautious. They were gang stamped when assembled. If you mean that they are in a straight line, but the line is not parallel to the engine pad, that's common.
Even though prices are down over a year or two ago, a nicely restored numbers Z is a $65K car. Back up $25-$45 for a resto, based on what has to be done, and whether you or a restorer will do the work, and that's the value as it sits.
Word of caution....most people, including myself, grossly underestimate the cost of a resto. I remember figuring the resto cost on mine at $10K-11K. It cost me double that, and most of my expense was 7-8 years ago, when, for example, NOS fenders were $500.
racin67cam Apr 13th, 08, 09:40 PM Here are some pictures of the 69 Z28, Please check out the motor stamp, let me know what you think, also pics of car. What do you think it is worth? Thank You.

RamAirDave Apr 13th, 08, 09:45 PM Engine stamp doesnt look good :(
racin67cam Apr 13th, 08, 09:58 PM I don't like the way the engine stamp looks or the lack of the vin number on the engine. What do you feel this car would be worth, knowing that this may not be the original engine?
firstgenaddict Apr 14th, 08, 07:06 AM It will probably bring at least 20k
Camullet Apr 14th, 08, 07:33 AM Beer goggles?
