The saga continues!! Got a call this AM and they are just north of Nashville. Things are going fine, burns a quart a day of oil (have a fresh 327 in the corner of my garage), The shimmy hasn't gotten any worse (thinks its a broken cord in one of the front tires, new set on rally rims in the garage), Head lights are dim (suspect original or very old) adjustment helped--dimmer switch doen't work, excellent milage yesterday (25+) , rethinking 200 4R swap, came to the conclusion while visiting with him this AM that it has quick ratio steering (steers light and quick), wipers are excruciatingly slow (dried out grease in the gearbox??)
heater core disconnected years ago due to leak (snow in the forcast) what an adventure. Checked all wheel bearings before starting journey and all fluid levels were fine including rearend. The anticipation is killing me as I havn't seen it in person yet. Freinds driving it home say its a real pleasure to drive though, nice and quiet, comfortable, good ride. It is taking everything bit of my patience not to pick up the phone and start ordering the parts I know it will need. I have to wait until it gets home though. This is going to be my wifes B-Day present, she is going to freak, as she has always (since she was 6 and the neighbors had one) wanted one. Will keep you posted withthe saga.

Like the catsoup commercials, ANTISIPATION is good for you :)

The trip for your friends is more exciting than the destination too :)

As long as your friend is having fun, it's OK. I wouldn't be excited about a possible tire problem with 1,000 miles to go or NO heat with the weather we are having. Sounds like it's gonna turn out to be a decent car....
