View Full Version : 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS A/C CAR PICS
Fuzzyhall Apr 11th, 08, 01:51 PM Hey guys,
what's this RS/SS worth?
Here is the ad:
Air Conditioning, NO MOTOR OR TRANSMISSION! NEEDS RESTORED. GOOD FRAME, ROCKER PANELS AND FLOORS. NEEDS 1/4"S, TRUNK PAN.
It has the prop. valve on the subframe...is this for all RS/SS cars?
10 bolt rear, multi leaf car. Floors are GREAT!!!!!
Cant read tag info. from pics. I will know more tomorrow.
Interior has all seats (RED)
Car needs restored.
What would it bring?
LCAC_Man Apr 11th, 08, 03:36 PM Without the trim tag info you'll only be guessing.
Does it have the torque/traction bar installed on the rear?
Fuzzyhall Apr 11th, 08, 09:01 PM Len, I don't recall seeing traction bars. I will have much more info. up tomorrow
68 Ragtop Apr 12th, 08, 12:14 PM Without the trim tag info you'll only be guessing.
Does it have the torque/traction bar installed on the rear?
It's a 10 bolt, so no.

gold67rs Apr 12th, 08, 01:25 PM No such thing as a multi-leaf car in 1967. Every 1967 Camaro no matter the power had mono-leafs.
Valve on subframe was also used on A/C cars.

jay'srs/ss Apr 12th, 08, 01:33 PM Well the tag says it's a RS/SS350 Muncie 4 Speed. But it's missing the engine, trans, it should have a 12 bolt and mono leafs, and the traction bar. So do you pay more for it becuase of what it's supposed to be?
Fuzzyhall Apr 12th, 08, 01:48 PM Got it! car was dropped off this morning.
Gonna put it for sale here as well as ebay because it needs to be gone in a week!
Here are some more pictures. Tag looks like it was removed and then put back on (terrible job)
I'm sorry if you get offended that I am putting the car on ebay right away. My landlord is very strict when it comes to having project cars on his property so I have to get rid of it as soon as I can. I wish I could list it on here longer. I do have an ad up in the classifieds section
jay'srs/ss Apr 12th, 08, 02:23 PM Cool, too bad you have to off it so quick. So what are you asking for it?
Unreal Apr 12th, 08, 03:06 PM I don't understand, the car is in Pittsburgh area, and your landlord in central New York is upset?
Sounds more like, "I bought it cheap, and want to turn a quick buck."
"Not that there's anything wrong with that".......says Jerry Seinfeld
gold67rs Apr 12th, 08, 03:14 PM Are you sure the trim tag belongs to that car? Something just doesn't look right.
Was the interior completely changed out at one time? According to the tag the car should have black standard buckets with headrest. Headrest were/are rare and your car has a complete red interior. Plus rare shoulder harness. ????????????
Is that front end off a 68 Camaro? Wrong hood scoops, wrong header emblem.
If you are flipping it based off the tag and what is shown you need to do some work.

4P/2L also used for L30/M20 combo. Underside shot shows that it does appear to be a factory floor shift car.
gold67rs Apr 12th, 08, 03:54 PM The trim tag is missing the codes for the A/C and the console.
Who ever put the tag back on forgot a few things.
"Underside shot shows that it does appear to be a factory floor shift car."
Could have been a powerglide. The speedo hole shown is used for both PG and Saginaw.

gold67rs Apr 12th, 08, 04:06 PM The VIN posted on your auction is a September 1966 VIN. Trim tag is 3rd week of January, 1967. The trim tag and VIN are not even close.
Tag is fake and made to look old.

thorpe67RS Apr 12th, 08, 04:12 PM I am reeeeally confused by this thread. Justin i thought you bought the car?? But its on ebay in PA and being sold by a dealer. Definitely seems to be some issues with the car.

Ok, I bought the car last night, received it today. I go to school in Western PA but live in Central NY. Tag is very interesting, to say the least. I thought it was odd at first, which is why I asked that question in the tag team section. When I was breaking it down, nothing seemed to be accurate.
I am going to revise my add to detail that I think it was a tag swap
Unfortunate....and yes I am looking to make some quick cash...I graduate college in three weeks and need money! Looks like I need to revise the ad! Any suggesstions on how I should word this? what do I do?
RPOL72 Apr 12th, 08, 05:32 PM The tag swap is a certainty - review date code on the tag and your VIN sequence - no way an early VIN could have a January body build date.
gold67rs Apr 12th, 08, 05:39 PM Justin,
No offense but did you even look at the car before you bought it or were you looking at just turning that quick buck?
Do you know the seller? Because obviously you are not as upset as I would have been when had I found out the tag was fake and the car is not what you are stating.
If nothing added up to you when you decoded the trim tag, then why did you buy it??
Also, your term "Barn Find" doesn't apply to this car because I really feel this car was slapped just fort the purpose of flipping it. That is just my opinion and may not be the opinion of others.
I think you made a poor decision on buying this car to make that quick buck.

Rick,
first off no offense taken. Second, check my feedback on ebay and please realize that I am NOT in this to misrepresent or screw ANYONE. I have sold SEVERAL project camaros on ebay and I am learning more and more each time.
I do like to flip cars, and picked this one up for a very reasonable price. I overlooked the tag until this morning when I went to decode it. I called the seller and he said he didnt touch a thing (would he really admit it swapped it?) I know it's wrong, I know it's sketchy, and I really don't want people ridiculing me for my "poor decision" because I guarantee you and everyone else would have bought the car for what I did even if you knew it was wrong. The title matches the VIN but I havent checked the hiddens yet.
Now I have to figure out how to modify the ad and sell it to someone who realizes it isn't as I thought it was.
I appreciate your words but some advice over criticism would be more helpful.
gold67rs Apr 12th, 08, 06:03 PM Ok Justin, here is my advice.
Check that car over as best you can and list the obvious. The VIN is a V8 car and since it is an early car we know that it's a small block only. No big blocks in the 67 Camaro until after the first of the year. Also no A/C in the 1967 BB cars after they were introduced. So that is the easy part.
I am thinking a 327 with PG and A/C. With the pedals shown I believe it's a powerglide. The rearend is probabaly not correct because it has multi leaf's. So state so.
Try to find a spot that is not covered with primer and see if you can find a spot of original paint. The interior looks original so the red is probably correct.
Put on 1967 Header panel emblems and/or at least state you know that is not correct.
Do a little work and if it was mine I would remove the fake tag. In my opinion it's best to have nothing then show that tag that doesn't belong there. It's hurting you.
Good luck.
Rick H.
1969 RS/SS DROPTOP Apr 12th, 08, 06:37 PM You can still make money on the car, disclose the bad tag and if worse comes to worse sell it as a racecar builder??

Thanks for the help guys,
Everyone who has called knows exactly what has happened. The best I can do is be honest. It's unfortunate this continually happens.
Thanks
Unreal Apr 12th, 08, 07:46 PM I'm not here to ridicule anyone. I only observed that you asked if it was a real RS-SS and were told, probably not. You bought it anyway, and apparently at a good price. Good for you. Nothing wrong with flipping it.
Problem is after you were told it was likely not a real SS, you listed it that way anyway.....including some nebulous verbiage about the trim tag.
If you are asking me how to list it, you should take out all reference to SS, and say it is a solid A/C car that was likely an original 327, and that the cowl tag is not original to the car. I'd also check the hidden VINs against the title.

I actually listed the car before the fact, and it will be RE-listed as it is represented. I will make the necessary changes and relist the car.
Thanks
RobSS1113 Apr 12th, 08, 08:08 PM Sounds like your an honest guy, and that says alot. If there was a Trim Swap "which it looks like" then I wonder if you ever checked the hidden vins and see if they match up with the Original Vin Tag on the inside of the Drivers side door jam. inquiring minds want to know !!

New listing, anything else I should change?
Thanks for the help TC and thanks for the kind words Robert, I will check the hiddens tomorrow!
