Sorry if this topic has already been beaten to death, but is the Chevy Punch online magazine dead? I slobbered over every one of the 2007 issues, but I haven't seen anything lately. :(

View Full Version : Chevy Punch Magazine? Mark Rossiter Apr 11th, 08, 08:27 PM Sorry if this topic has already been beaten to death, but is the Chevy Punch online magazine dead? I slobbered over every one of the 2007 issues, but I haven't seen anything lately. :( Al Apr 11th, 08, 08:45 PM Thanks for the post Mark. I"m not sure of the future but really enjoyed doing it. The feedback was pretty much non-existent and I think the monthly format was a bit too ambitious, esp for a freebie. Perhaps quarterly or bi-monthly? My real job has me on 12 hour shifts and it just doesn't leave much time for the websites, let alone the punch. Al Gary L Apr 11th, 08, 08:48 PM It was a GREAT freebie! BonzoHansen Apr 11th, 08, 08:59 PM I read every word... Lost in the 60's Apr 12th, 08, 08:58 AM I enjoyed it, sorry if I missed a feedback forum for it. Bi-monthly might be too much too, but I would definitely like to see a quarterly issue. Maybe a little bigger to compensate for the longer time frame to put it together ?? Yankit Apr 12th, 08, 06:46 PM I've been wondering what happened to it also, thought I missed the memo! It was a great publication and very informitive, I've missed not reading it myself... Understandable the time and effort Al must have put into doing it and amount others I'm sure, but we all sure appreciated it none the less Al. Lifes to short and working 12 hr shifts and taking care of the website site doesn't leave much time to enjoy it let alone doing a freebee magizen ontop of all that. Just wanted you to know we appreciate all you do.......and this Great website! HarleyD67 Apr 12th, 08, 08:06 PM Ditto to all the above. I'm sorry if you thought we where taking you and the Punch for granted (and I guess we did if you didn't hear our praises) but we didn't mean to. I have every copy saved and backed up for future enjoyment. I can totally understand the time constraints and agree that it was a very aggressive undertaking and applaud you and all involved. I would love to see it come back as a quarterly mag and maybe a special Winter Hot buys/ parts review edition. Which would also allow for some revenue for that issue to help at least recoup some cost. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c87/HarleyD67/Smilies/applaud.gif Mark Rossiter Apr 14th, 08, 07:00 AM Thanks for the post Mark. I finally joined TC as an official member far enough into last year that a lot of the monthly online mags were already available. As a result, I did a lot of 'catch-up' reading, but I enjoyed every page, whether it was barn finds, 'how to' articles, road trips, you name it. I appreciate all of the efforts of you and anyone else who contributed to the publication. I look forward to the next episode whenever it happens to be. Al Apr 14th, 08, 09:25 AM I guess that I never worded that right. We certainly were not looking for praises - we had tried to get some activity on the punch forum as to what everyone wanted to see and if we were on the right track. We anticipated discussions of the tech topics, features etc to have some interaction and it just never took place. thanks. sleepsinshed Apr 14th, 08, 09:48 AM I also read everything in Chevy Punch. I don't care what you put in there, I will read it. Maybe some of the rest of us can contribute to take some of the load off? Chevy-SS Apr 14th, 08, 10:02 AM Terrific online magazine! I recently overhauled a Muncie 4-speed and the Feb '07 had the very BEST article I ever saw on this subject. I did everything exactly as the article said, including buying a Harbor Freight press and a bearing splitter. The tranny came out great, shifts like a dream............ Thanks very much  - DougP Apr 14th, 08, 10:36 AM Al -- I enjoyed the magazine and agree that monthly may be a bit ambitious both in regard to fresh content and the amount of time you personally have to devote to getting it published. How about a quarterly publication? It would give you a couple of months to solicit input from the various members and other sister sites and give you a little more time for preparation. I second Doug's suggestion. I really enjoyed reading it and would like to see it come back. keypilot Apr 15th, 08, 09:31 AM Al, There a lot of good writers on this board, maybe you could take submissions (w/pics of course) and just organize it. it would save time and keep people interested. just thinking out loud. T-Torden Jan 23rd, 09, 01:45 AM ........ silence......in 8-9 month now ... is it really totally over now ??? :pout::boring: Okay Al, thank you for every magazine until now, I enjoyed every copy.:waving::bow:[ Tom -Denmark- HarleyD67 Jan 23rd, 09, 10:39 PM I talked to Al about this about a month ago knowing his brewing usually slows down a bit this time of year. He said these sites even with the mod's, and admin's is taking up "allot" of his time and he wants to get back to doing the "Punch", but not real soon.:( Joe Harrison Jan 24th, 09, 11:36 AM Al: I have been around since the days when Chevelle was an e-mail news format and even then did not understand how you had the time to devote to that. Now it's been something like 14 years give or take a few and you still pour tons of time into all these sites. It's funny but about 15 Camaros and Chevelles since I joined all those years ago I am down to a 67 Camaro I had when I first joined the Chevelle new letter!! Thanks to Al and Team Camaro, the one I have is the one I am keeping and the funny thing is it's nothing special just the one I ended up liking the most over the years. Just wanted to say thank you to you and Dot for such an awsome job. The Punch is a great mag and is missed but when ever I was reading it I would still think to myself what you and the others gave to make it happen. Thanks to all of you that have ever done anything with Punch and those that will when it comes back!! Al Jan 27th, 09, 12:24 PM You kinda rattled me there Joe... 14 years! I genuinely thought the Punch would be back by now. I've dedicated a lot of hours a day to the sites by taking a lot of time off work this winter. It seems the hours are gobbled up in admin stuff. The Punch is something that I really want to bring back, specifically for the team members to make sure their support of the site has extra value. When? Not sure, but I think of it every day. Thanks for everyone's continued support. Al 69CamaroRT Oct 10th, 09, 10:25 PM can you still view chevy punch on camaros.net? im looking for the feb 07 edition. thanks 69CamaroRT Oct 10th, 09, 10:28 PM nevermind, googled chevypunch and there it was. |
