Gary L Apr 13th, 08, 07:15 PM I think he mentioned over at CRG he was building a new car, if I remember correctly.
sixd8rs Apr 13th, 08, 08:28 PM Cool car! Its only 10 minutes away too. I should stop in and get a couple pics before it leaves!
Larry B Apr 13th, 08, 08:34 PM That would be grate Dan I wish I could
SY1 Apr 13th, 08, 08:53 PM Maybe this will silence the "302's a dog" crowd. Running 10.80s in basically stock form, excuse the 5.57 gears, isn't too bad in my book! If their 302 is a dog it aint set up right or they are afraid to drive it hard, (probably from too many 350 motors coming apart on them would be my guess).

Amen to that. 456 HP @ 7700 RPM. Shifting @ 8200 RPM. WOW.
Bgonz 69 Apr 14th, 08, 09:34 PM I was recently side by side with Jerry and this car at last years Englishtown Divisional. I was lucky enough to run a timeshot with him and I believe he went 11.05 on that pass. We were stuck in the lanes for about an hour talking camaro stuff. He's a super nice guy and that cars super sweet in person  Hard to believe he runs that car as he does, Gotta love it :beers:

Everett#2390 Apr 15th, 08, 04:39 AM Strickland's car is one of my favorites also. Old school Super Stock tricks, stock engine with 450 hp from a 302, Thank you, Mr. Jenkins.
green z Apr 15th, 08, 06:30 AM About 5 or 6 years ago I had the chance to travel to the west coast and go drag racing with Jerry and Old reliable. We spent two weeks in Vegas racing and then went to Pomona for the world finals. We were gone a month. We left Balt. on a sat. around 8am and were in Vegas monday evening. I think we ran about 80 most of the way. We both just closed our shops and hung the sign out gone racing be back some day. Its not often you have a chance to go play for a month. I had to thing very hard if I could afford to go . So I looked at it like this. In the big picture when I'm retired what would I think then if I haden't went. In all the years of working (40-50years) what is one month really going to do. It wasn't going to make me or break me. So off I went. And you know what I'd do it again
larry A/SA Apr 15th, 08, 01:49 PM Why is he selling it??? i have the Die cast car, which is about as I'll ever come to owning it

JohnZ Apr 15th, 08, 04:55 PM I was surprised that the Mecum info doesn't include the fact that Jerry won the E/Stock class at the 2004 U.S. Nationals at Indy and it runs 10.90's.

cjm465 Apr 15th, 08, 07:09 PM Any guesses what it might go for? Hope it is bought by someone who keeps it in the public eye a bit, not some overseas collector.

With the history, I'd think six figures? But then the economy's got things down.
I agree would be nice if it wound up in a museum.

William Apr 16th, 08, 11:35 AM For 1969 Chevy sold nearly 3 times as many Z/28s as it did in '68. I always thought the photos of "Old Reliable" charging off the line at the '68 Nats that were in virtually every car mag back in the day pre-sold every one of them.
Jerry saved it from the crusher, perfectly restored it and won the Nats again!
Chevy needs to buy back its most famous Camaro for the '09 launch. I cannot imagine how much money that car put in Chevy's pocket. I hope it sets an auction record!!
Good Luck Jerry!

Seems like the well known race cars don't do well at Barret Jackson.

You have that one exactly correct. A few well placed videos and pictures could do well.

1967Z28 Apr 23rd, 08, 07:04 AM Unquestionably one of the greatest Camaros on the planet. Good luck with the sale, Jerry buddy. I look forward to seeing your new one completed and in action out on the track.

rich pern Apr 23rd, 08, 10:59 AM Is it just me or have we not seen much on the auction site about Old Reliable? Or ZL #55 for that matter. Seems like they would be promo'ing these cool cars to generate more interest?
