View Full Version : What's my 67 SS worth?
NoClone Apr 14th, 08, 02:24 PM I have a 67 SS that is a true SS car. I am seriously contemplating selling it but I am unsure what to expect to get out of the car. The car has a Muncie 4 speed and a freshly rebuilt 350. The 12 bolt rear is original to the car as is the freshly rebuilt 4 speed. The engine block, heads, distributor and carb are not original to the car. The floor pans are new with some surface rust but it is not deep at all. It could probably be cleaned up with steel wool and sealed. The only place on the car where rust is an issue is the rear shock towers as can be seen in the photos that are attached in the links. Even these are not that serious. I have seen much worse. Other than the rust in the shock towers, the car is extremely solid and a very complete car. I have most of the original parts for the car and many new ones. The floor pan in the trunk is solid. As you can see in the photos, I had started to weld some new metal in the trunk where the gas tank hanger is welded to the bottom of the floorpan but never got it totally completed. I bought a power disc break setup for the car that came from a 71 chevelle and installed it but also have the original front drums as well. The subframe is like new with no rust what so ever. The 350 has an oversized cam and runs great as would be expected since it was freshly rebuilt. The car does not currently have the glass in it but I do have the glass for it.

If you wouldn't mind sharing your opinion about what you think this car is worth, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,

Fuzzyhall Apr 14th, 08, 04:33 PM Nice lookin car buddy,
Im gonna take a stab at it and say anywhere from the $9-15K region.
Sorry for the large range but I would think it would lie on the higher side.
Good luck
mb302rs Apr 14th, 08, 05:53 PM Looks like a good car with alot of potential. Still a fair amount of work left -with the shock towers . That could scare off a large portion of the buyers (work at home with limited tools). IMO 10-12K as is. If you put it on Ebay its anyones guess . The stars may line-up for you. I think you would come out better , if you fixed the towers and spent a couple weeks on reassembly.
Good Luck what ever your decision
gro51 Apr 14th, 08, 07:29 PM Sorry to be the low ball, but I'd say 8 g's.
BelAirBob Apr 14th, 08, 10:05 PM Looks like a car with lots of potential, but also lots of work left. I'd need to clean up the undercarriage a bunch, and as was already said, the shock towers could be an issue. I'm thinking- $8-9K as is. If I were trying to sell, I'd wire brush the undercarriage, removing the surface rust, then tastefully spray it with correct finishes(not saying go nuts with a spray bomb, but you get the idea.) Stuff like rusty steering linkage, brakes, etc. equal work in the buyer's mind, and thats what some of the pics show. One of the floor pans also appears to show heat marks from being welded.-stripes all in a line.
Not trying to pick it apart at all,but if you detailed it a bit over a long weekend, it would add a bunch to the value.
guccieng Apr 14th, 08, 11:25 PM if you were to put it in a time capsule, it would still depreciate in today's declining economy and housing market. whatever you think it is worth today, subtract some or alot for what it will be worth tomorrow.

im not sure if I agree with that. I really don't see these cars depreciating in the long term.
Heatman Apr 15th, 08, 07:31 PM I would say your car is worth about 15g. give or take a dollar or two. You have from what i can see alot invested to this point. Money talks and BS walks and their seems to be alot of that here. Remember that carpenters cover their mistakes and doctors bury theirs.
robert11567 Apr 15th, 08, 08:59 PM I would say your car with some T.L.C on the undercarrage and install the grille and misc little things it will help you sell the car faster, I think you will be $15,000 + . Good Luck Robert
NoClone Apr 15th, 08, 09:11 PM It sounds like the best thing for me to do is get that undercarriage cleaned up and start bolting some parts back onto it. You guys have been great. I definatly appreciate any and all input. I really had no idea where to start as far as my selling price is concerned. The undercarriage will be easy to do since the rust is so thin. The shock towers are another story and I may just leave them for the future owner.

I'm gonna echo this statement. Even with the slow economy and the shock tower issue, it's a lot better "project" car than many I've seen. If you were silly enough to unload it for 8-9k, which I'm sure you aren't, I'll give you 10 to leave it on the trailer and I'll just come get the whole thing.

Is this an offer? If so, lets talk. We might be able to make some sort of a deal because I think we might be close to what I am looking to get of of this one.
