I have a complete 300 HP engine that has 53,000 original miles on it. Block casting number is 3932388 and date code is A 28 9, Cylinder heads are 3947041 with date codes of K 15 8 and A 2 9, intake is a 3927184 / L 30 8 and the exhaust manifolds are 3942529 and 3932376. I didn't take the exhaust manifolds off to get the date codes. Engine ran great when removed. I don't know if it would be better to part it out or sell it complete.

What do you guys think?

I also have the original 1969 turbo 350 trans. What would it be worth?

Its just my opinion but I would sell it whole. maybe try and find vins on the motor and trans and look for the owner of the car. you would be able to sell your parts for a little more money and make someone pretty happy at the same time.

The vin number is 19z333271 T0205HD. The "D" has to be a mistake. My Grandfather bought this car new and it was ordered with the 300 HP 350 with the 4 barrel carb. I don't know what is a fair price. Does anyone have any idea what it is worth?

Thanks,
Tom

Here's the break down of a few of the letters. HD is a 2 BBL 250 HP. If the letter is clear then that's what you have...some of the other letters that could be close....

HB 1969 350 300 4 tur hydro trans.
HC 1969 350 250 2 m/t
HD 1969 350 250 2 tur hydro trans.
HE 1969 350 300 4 Powerglide
HF 1969 350 250 2 Powerglide

I think it should have been a HB because of the block casting number 3932388 was used for 300 HP 350's or 290 HP 302's. Plus it has the right 4 barrel intake for 300 HP. But it is stamped HD.

It's not a Camaro engine. What model car did your grandfather buy?

This engine is out of a 1969 Chevelle. Poor guy ordered a high optioned pee green 4 dr with pee green interior and vinyl top. It has a 12 bolt 3.73 posi, am/fm 8 track radio, a/c, power steering, and the 300 HP engine. Now that I think about it I have the build sheet for this car. It figures the only build sheet I have ever found has to be from a 4 dr.

Tom the 3932388 block was used for a variety of engine makeups not just the high power ones. That block is more common than first thought of years ago, it replaced the 3932386 and was used across the Chev engine line. The lower power 350's in 1969 like the LM1 I have, could have that block or the 3932386 block. They overlapped from whats being reported here and in CRG. :)

Are the 250 HP models 2 or 4 barrel? This car also had the air cleaner that says 300 HP. I will check the build sheet tonight. It should be listed on there right?

250 hp is 2barrel , the LM1 (255hp) is 4barrel Qjet but only built until end of Dec. 68, replaced by 350/300 then.

I looked everywhere and I don't know where I put the build sheet.

Does anyone know what a fair asking price is for this stuff? It is complete from fan to tail housing and air cleaner to oil pan, including the power steering pump

Thanks,
Tom

I would say around $1000-$1500.
