View Full Version : possible "all original" survivor OR totally restored, non-matching....
okiemark Apr 15th, 08, 05:58 AM May get that 69 Hugger Orange SS today. (once I check a few more things on my "is it an SS" list.) However, I continue to be haunted by the first car I test drove wa back when. very, very sharp matching ## car (bow-tie coupe) with pretty-low miles. My original thought was a car I can drive a few times a week but it's hard to forget about the one that has matching all-round (even the original owner-manual. spare tire, jack). the matching car is unrestored, decent paint. The SS has non-matching motor from '70 chevy (350 w/250 horse) the asking price on the matching # car is only $2000 more than the SS
If the market wasn't like it was, I'd get both and put the original in storage. NOTE: I made a similar post a few weeks back, just want more thoughts on subject. THANX.

I would say spend the additional monies and enjoy it with care. Survivors do not come around that often......you can always make a cash offer (in hand) for 2k less and have the 2k in another pocket just incase...........

Hylton Apr 18th, 08, 06:59 AM If the SS is an original HO 4-speed car, it wins hands down IMO.
yellow69RS Apr 18th, 08, 08:24 AM What's different from the SS without the original motor versus my RS with PDB, PS etc? Since the SS is perfomance option with out the original engine it's just a Camaro with Disc brakes and a 12 bolt. Just my .02 YMMV

dklozik Apr 18th, 08, 08:43 AM The only real way to confirm an SS is with the original motor. Or extensive paperwork trail. Like Yellow said...it might as well just be a clone...or attempted clone like I bought.
Myfirst 69SS Apr 18th, 08, 08:59 AM If it has the original 4-speed (with VIN stamped on it) and it is a Muncie depending on build date couldn't that confirm an original SS.

So is a COPO without the original 427 just another Camaro? There is inherent value in a car which came from the factory as a performance model. A car with a 6 cylinder VIN number will always be worth less than the same car with an 8 cylinder VIN number.

Yes, you would think but not always the case

Not true. Depends on how the car is built. Ive seen some pro touring cars sell for 80k+

It great to own grandpa's old hammer.... I've changed the head twice and the handle three times but it's sure nice to have granpa's old hammer. Just my opinion you don't have to agree.
