Hi, 69 camaro. are the door strikers painetd body color? what about the spacer washers that go behind the striker?

Without going into a lot of detail here...check out the archives under "door striker" and you'll see several threads relating to this same subject/problem.

The striker was installed before paint in 69. So was the latch on the door, so the screws for the door latch, the striker and the washers are all painted body color. Not sure about the striker in earlier years, but the door latch was installed after the door was painted in 67, so the screws are not painted. Not sure about 68, but I think it's the same as 67.

Even though it is incorrect, some guys install the striker after paint, and leave it bare. That's because it's not long before the paint on the painted ones is chipped by the latch.

Same is true for the striker on the deck lid. It should be painted, but it chips easily.

thanks. i did think that it was painted but not sure if i want to go throught trouble now. Car was already painted apart. By the way i did try a search for door striker and came up with bunch of posts but nothing regsrding paint.

Are you sure? I was sure it was as I described, for Norwood cars.

However, I was also sure the Z/28 stripes on spoiler cars extended to the middle of the area underneath the spoiler, and the spoiler was attached afterwards, and striped, then. Now I'm no longer sure of anything!! :)
