I'm re-installing a T-5 in my sons 2000 Camaro. It has 3.8 V6, and the tranny is 5 speed T5. We raplaced the clutch, pressure plate and slave cylinder.

Now the problem is there is not enough room between the bottom of the car body and the engine allowing us to get the transmission shaft thru the slpines on the pressure plate, and bolt up the bellhousing to the motor.

The Bellhousing keeps hitting the bottom of the car body. I've trying jacking it every way possible and still not enough room.

Is there a way the get the slave cylinder bolted to the tranny if you install the bell housing to the engine first? It doesn't seem like it would be possible, but it looks about like the only way it will work.

Any suggestions form any of you guys that have done this before? I thank you in advance for your help.

We mostly have first gens on this site. Not sure where you would have a quicker response.

Please hunt up a site that discuss's the 2000 type Camaro cars.

Bttt, in other word's, you get it all together w/ the engine rearend dropped down and when you jack it up to install the tranny cross member, you can't jack the engine/tranny combination up high enough b/c the slave cylinder is hitting the floor pan??

Use a BFFT on the floor pan!

I think you may have to put it on a lift and lower the engine down some but I'm not 100% sure. Team Camaro is the best web site on the net for 1st gens, you need to go here for all of your 4th gen questions. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/index.php

I can't see lowering the S/F to get it to fit if it won't fit being pushed up at a tilt like it should!

That's why I mentioned the BFFT!!

I just thought of this!!Does the tranny need to be kicked over an inch like a BB install need's to be done??pdq67

4th gen Paul, it's a Kmember. You can actually disconnect the front suspension, steering and kmember and lift the car off the engine.

We can do the same thing if we unbolt our S/F's so I can't see where lifting the body will keep the slave cylinder from hitting once it's down where it should be unless the engine need's to be moved over an inch like the BB's need in our 1st Gens.

Go to LS1Tech like suggested or go get a Haynes manual and see what it says. You may indeed need to drop the K-member/engine to get everything together as suggested. You might try lifting it off the motor mounts and tilting it.

The motors/trans on these style of F bodies were all put in from the bottom so dropping the engine/susp is probably the way to go.
