What is the best way to paint and detail the transmission, and what paint or process to clean the casing, Thanks

What kind of tranny is it?

I would say clean and degrease it as clean as possible. Then shoot with cast aluminum paint.

Should be bare, cast aluminum. Do not paint if at all possible.

Painted aluminum retains heat. If it is for show, clean it, glass bead it, then clear it.

To do it right you need to have a vibratory tumbler and tumble it with steel shot... that is how the foundry got the casting sand off it.

Here's mine after a wash. But it didn't get it any cleaner.

Suggest you LOOK for and find a large cylinder head rebuild shop specializing in ALUMINUM foreign branded heads. They should have a shot blasting shop that they use to CLEAN heads. Hopefully they will run your sand casting muncie case.
The side cover and tailhousing are DIE CAST and need to be tumbled in aluminum or possible ceramic media to CLEAN the surface.........
You will have to CALL around and find out who in your area can do this.............
