I don't know what the paint color code is for the rally wheels, but you could probably have it looked up at an automtive paint supply store, or auto parts store. It is Argent Silver. Also, Krylon Dull Aluminum is very close. The finish should not be glossy.
On the trim rings, the origional GM are definately the best, although they are quite pricey. Repos are cheap, and they shine, but you can tell the difference up close. Depends on how correct you want it to look, and how much you want to spend. The originals have an indented "line" (circle) around the entire near outer edge of the ring, and sometimes different inner attaching prongs. Hope this helps.

OCHRISL,

Just got through with this project as well. I used some spray paint made by a company called SPARVAR color code S124 which they call Dull Aluminum. I know this is not logical but it is better to paint your wheels AFTER the tires are mounted because if you don't the edges of the wheels will be scratched in the process of mounting the tires. This of course requires you to carefully mask your tires and tire stem off prior to applying the paint. I bead blasted mine first to get them down to bare metal, then I sprayed on the SPARVAR (division of Sherman Williams paint). I sprayed on two coats of paint and one coat of clear. The Dull Aluminum color exactly matches the Argent Silver that the wheels were originally painted in. Good Luck!!!

NDP sells a spray paint that is supposed to be the original color argent silver, I just finished one of mine and it turned out really nice, and matches the original on my others very nicely minus the rust.

I looked it up today, the PPG code for '67-'69 argent silver is 8568. If you want dupont tell your jobber to cross referance the number.

In our restoration shop we spend some time and quality paints to keep the wheels looking good for some time. Any paint used from a spray can will not hold up as long as quality paint will. It does not contain the adheasion chemicals nor the preservatives, that is why it is cheap and easy to do. I would suggest if you are serious about this hobby and plan on doing it for ever and want
your hard effort to last, invest in a compressor and at least a touch up gun. You can buy PPG, Dupont or R&M paints in pint
containers that will give you a lasting quality finish. Arggent silver is code #16 and if you use base coat/clear coat without the clear you will get the exact semi finish.
You should always prime blasted wheels first whether you use cans or professionl products.
Hope this helps, The Camaro Guy, Bruce.

The same company that makes 14 X 7 GM trim
rings, make the reproductions! Don't be surprised it happens all the
time. That way it serves both markets. This is rather recent, by the way, so save some money and get the repros. The 15x8 trim rings are different companies. Good luck, Bruce.

bruce, i agree with what you said about the spray bombs.thats why i wanted the dupont code. i plan on a base/clear job.you said how spray cans aren't as durable but spraying base coat with no clear is even less durable!base coat has no durability unless it is cleared and is not easy to clean.
