View Full Version : Covans Classics. Scott MH Apr 19th, 08, 09:02 PM Whats the deal with Covans Classic Gauge system for the 67 camaro? I ordered one off of summit two months ago and i am yet to get it hereitis67 Apr 19th, 08, 10:42 PM i would call them up and see whats up. i got mine from ricks in 3 days a year ago. maybe it is backordered JWA Apr 21st, 08, 04:08 AM Call Summit and ask. Most likely they don't stock the Covan's stuff and it gets drop shipped. 1-800-230-3030 As you can see in this list, Summit does not stock much of the 67 Camaro: http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?Ntt=covan&N=700+4294908216+4294925084+115+4294908198&Ntk=KeywordSearch Also if you can check your order status online here: http://store.summitracing.com/eru/ But the phone call will get you more specific info quickest. Buzz0 Apr 25th, 08, 06:30 PM I ordered a set too on 3/31 and the communication from Summit is "they should arrive on 5/5. I don't know if that means Summit will have them on 5/5 or if I will. Scott, I just went and checked Summit's web site to see if anything had changed on the ship date. The price just went up to $749. When I ordered mine the price was $564. I bet it might be a stall tactic and they are hoping people will get frustrated and cancel the back orders. I intend to make them honor the price they had posted when I placed my order. Blade Apr 26th, 08, 05:59 AM they shouldnt be on back order they were at carlisle yesterday! Buzz0 Apr 26th, 08, 07:54 PM They being Summit or Covan's? I had ordered it through Classic Industries though. They told me it was a hold up at Covans because they had to make it. Scott MH May 2nd, 08, 06:22 AM delayed again! poppycock I tell you! Buzz0 May 3rd, 08, 09:57 AM My order status still shows "expected delivery 5/5/08" so I'm going to keep hanging in there for a few more days and see what happens.:boring: Blade May 4th, 08, 04:19 AM thats tomm hang in there Scott MH May 4th, 08, 08:04 AM My order status still shows "expected delivery 5/5/08" so I'm going to keep hanging in there for a few more days and see what happens.:boring: lucky dog. i got pushed back  Buzz0 May 4th, 08, 04:31 PM Summit shows "should arrive 5/5/08" on my order status and to the rest of the world they show "ship by 5/11/08". Maybe they need to un-box, separate, inspect, and re-box before they ship and that takes 6 days. I dunno. Seems a little unfair if you ordered yours before I did. IF they show up I'll post. I really need to get this car back together if I'm going to make the Power Tour. Buzz0 May 7th, 08, 07:40 PM OK I called Summit this afternoon and talked to a real nice and very helpful lady. She said they had a note on the gauge panels that said Covan's was waiting on Auto Meter and to expect the panels next month! Not good for me at all since I only have about 3 1/2 more weeks to get this car ready for the Power Tour. She then proceeded to put me on hold and called Covan's to see what they could do. Nada was the answer they gave her. She also commented on the price going up since I placed my order. We both agreed that it was a great price but the timing sucked. She then proceeded to call Covan's back and negotiated a deal on the same set up but with Phantom gauges for about $38 more than what I originally paid plus she arranged to have the panel drop shipped to me so I could get the car together on time! I couldn't be more pleased with the help I got from Summit on this, they will definitely get some repeat business from me! Buzz0 May 7th, 08, 09:29 PM I'm pretty sure it was Maria. I just called the 800 number. Scott MH Jun 1st, 08, 12:47 PM so I got my kit in and i am putting it all togeather, sort of unexpected that i would have to assemble the whole thing. But, my speedo and tach did not come with lights to go at the top of them, just a rubber gromet to fill the hole. I have the Autometer Phantom II meters. Is the light built in already? I am kind of stumped. anyone?? Rodder Jun 1st, 08, 04:52 PM Phantom II's should have built-in LED lighting Scott MH Jun 1st, 08, 07:29 PM my smaller gauges have a + and - post on the top for thies built in lights but the speedo and tach just have a rubber gromet Rodder Jun 1st, 08, 08:07 PM The tach and speedo have a terminal labeled LAMP in the big connector on the back. The ground is shared between the illumination and the rest of the gauge. On my tach (ultralite II), the connections are SIGNAL IGNITION GROUND LAMP On my speedo (ultralite II), the connections are SIGNAL LAMP GROUND IGNITION Buzz0 Jun 3rd, 08, 09:51 PM Finally got them huh? Lucky! I'm still waiting!:( Scott MH Jun 4th, 08, 06:11 AM Finally got them huh? Lucky! I'm still waiting!:( really?! i figured you would get your before me with everything you did Buzz0 Jul 2nd, 08, 08:07 PM And........I'm still waiting. I emailed Summit last week and pointed out that every gauge that went into this panel plus the panel itself showed as in stock on their web site. Then I asked why could I buy every single component and have it shipped to me the next day but they could not manage to ship the gauge panel to me. "It will ship by this Friday. Covan was waiting for one gauge to show up from Autometer and they now have it." Well, here it is Wednesday after the Friday that everything was supposed to ship and... I'm... still... w... a... i... t... i... n... g...:boring: I'm about to take back everything good I have said in the past about Summit's customer service. And I'm definitely never ever going to buy anything with the name Covan on it ever again. Never. I mean it. |
