The drivers side window on my 1997 convertible is not operating correctly. You can push the switch and it will sart to move but will only go about half way and then stop. If you wait a few minutes it will move again but for a shorter time and so on. IF you wait a long time it will work a bit more.
I am assuming it is the relay or the switch heating up or overloading. I can hear a click from under the dash when I hit the switch so I am assuming the relay is down there some where.
Has anyone else ever had this problem and what did you do to fix it?

It is the motor. We just fixed one yesterday. Did the exact same thing. It moves a bit, gets warm, cools, moves a bit, gets warm, bla, bla, bla.
The motors are still available from GM

Is it hard to replace? I am assuming I just remove the door panel and get to it from there...

Look what a google search turned up for me!!

I stopped at Auto Zone and they have the window motor in stock for $59.17 and it has a limited lifetime warranty. I didn't price it at the dealership because I was told they only warranty them for 12 months.

Replaced mine with an Autozone Motor works great and only takes about an hour an a half at most to replace, real easy to drill thru fiberglass. When the power motor is worn out and You try to use it then the curcuit breaker shuts off and You wait till the motor cools down and then it works again that is what happens. I think everybody who owns a fourth gen has replaced a window motor or two
