I have a silly question about how to mount the rear speakers in my 67 Convert?
I ordered those folding rear card board things from NPD. I have come to think they are only to mess with my mind because I am just baffled.

Any help after the laughter would be great.

Thanks in advance

If you search "rear speakers" in the convertible forum, there were some threads with pics. I will try to verbally describe how they mount.

The speaker mounts into that cardboard enclosure you bought, and then the enclosures mount to the slanted portion of the metal brace behind the rear seat, facing up/into the trunk. The convertible well liner gets cut out over each speaker, and the grilles mount over the liner.

So, when they are mounted as GM installed them, if you look into the well liner area with the top up, you see two speaker grilles pointing toward the back of the car. With the top up, sound is reportedly ok.

With the top down, the speakers are completely covered by several layers of folded top. Sound quality is reportedly non-existant.

Thanks for the advice. I did a search and found a bunch of good info.

Give them a try as did I.. but found that I drove more with the top down (in the summer) so elected to go with the sub in the trunk since I couldn't hear them... made more sense... but also upgraded the speakers in the kick panels.
