If the prices were comparable, which do you think would be a smarter purchase. A new Hurst shifter that is correct for my 69 camaro like in the link below?

Or would an "original" 69 camaro shifter be better? Like in the below link. (anyways, is this actually from a 69 camaro?)

The shifter I have in my camaro now is a Hurst Competition but is not correct for a 69 camaro. I tried to install a console a few weeks ago, and the shifter arm hits the console when in reverse.

The other option is to leave my shifter in, but I do want a console. I love the look .

Thanks for your help!

If you are going for originality, the factory shifter is the way to go, but it will cost you some $$, especially after getting it restored if that is what you are after. Can you keep your current Hurst shifter and move it to the passenger side a little?

that's what I would have liked to have done but I was under the impression that I couldn't do that. (i actually dont know if it is possible. From trying to study it, it seems as though the offset is incorrect for the shifter arm and that is part of the problem as well.)

It's banging on the console because you have to pan the shifter...

There is an elongated adjustment slot to do this (you can do a search for excellent pictures). And if it is already panned all the way forward, which mine was - and still hitting, then 'add' a little more adjustment slot by 1/4" by means of a round file.
